Ahh regulation. One person's protection, another person's oppression.

We had an election several years ago that would allow these people open their own offices. It failed(Calif). The bill stood up for nurses and legal secretaries-filling out forms. You mean Mr. Trump wouldn’t have an opinion on the subject? Whose teeth are they anyway? Sounds like the dentists just want to get paid first. How about having them on cruise lines in international waters? At least one doesn’t have to take time off from work.

Timely that you raise this dentistry monopoly issue.
Regarding cost, a common tactic I’m seeing is high volume dental offices advertising low ball cut rate new patient cleaning & x-ray exams for $69.
You go in, and get a hygienist in your mouth telling you that you should get a comprehensive cleaning for $149 more.
What!
Very little tartar, calculus crude, and you get hit with an uplift in the middle of the cleaning?!
Then there’s the “you should come back to get that old crown replaced” routine that costs $900+ for one damn tooth!

Screw dentists and the way they’re going.

It is more difficult to get into Vet School and Dental School than Med School I was dismayed to learn when applying to Med School 4 decades ago. I could not see why and wondered when informed and was quickly told, “Their patients pay in cash”. It was a moment of clarity I have experienced only a few times in life.

“If so, this would be a classic example of “rent-seeking,” an economic term for the act of exploiting the political process to increase one’s profits at the expense of society.”

Not necessarily. Air-drying devices aerosolize bacteria so they can fly up and get deep down in your lungs. I hate them.

Besides, one needs a paper towel to open the door, or be forced to touch that filthy handle with one’s bare hand.

That said, I oppose the regulation on the grounds that it’s none of the government’s business.

I sense a schtickel of anti-dentite in the author.

My brother is a dentist, and a good one.
He does very well fixing the shoddy work of the ‘dental mill’ types.
He has used technology to stay ahead of the curve.

Denists sell the smile and have sold millions of women who go round perpetually showing their teeth. Showing one's teeth is a gesture of hominid submission
