Jesus said if you want to follow him you have to pick up your own cross every day - hardly a prosperity message. Look at the message of Peter and James to the audiences their epistles were addressed to - they didn’t sound to0prosperous.
What IS your own personal cross? Think about it. You have
to make the choice every day to pick up that cross.
The wooden cross was for Christ, the means of His own
physical death & the death of any vestige of any personal
ambitions he might have remaining.
What, or who, is YOUR means of DEATH TO SELF?
God surely provides for those who have faith in Him.
However, it should be kept in mind that His definition of prosperity is not necessarily ours.
