Man shot, killed at Oceanfront was shot by friend during robbery attempt
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. A man who died after being shot over the weekend at the Oceanfront has been identified and the circumstances surrounding the shooting have been revealed.
Virginia Beach Police say 30-year-old Michael Scott of Suffolk was shot by a friend as they attempted to rob a residence in the 300 block of 22nd Street.
During the investigation, detectives learned that Scott and two other men targeted the residence and entered it with the intention to commit a robbery.
During the robbery attempt, one of the two other suspects fired a gun and hit Scott.
A victim of the robbery was also injured, but his injuries were non-life threatening.
The uninjured suspects fled from the residence before officers arrived. Officers located one a short time later and took him into custody.

Hamlin is being held in the Virginia Beach Correctional Center on no bond.
The case remains under investigation.
It ought to be against the law to rob someone without proper firearms training. Have these criminals no respect for common sense or the law?
