this makes me very optimistic. Even if Trump loses this year, this trend could carry Cruz or Rubio to the WH next time around.

It will be the government dependent class against the middle/working class.

Whichever is bigger, wins.

What a sad sorry article—all about a time before identity politics, affirmative action, and a massive welfare state.

Don’t be fooled.

Latin-Americans being the immigrant group that, after WW2, supplanted Italians...

I knew we were supplanted!!!

And Cruz wouldn’t get my vote now even if there was a glock pointed at my privates.

And there WILL NO NEXT TIME if she wins.

Some of us here will be rounded up and gone.

We have a warship named after a gay child molester, navy ships surrendering without firing a shot, AGAINST IRAN. confederate flags illegal, quarter of a million dollar fine if you call a man a man at work and he doesn’t want to be.

New govt wings to decide what is and what isn’t hate speech online.

A few hundred thousands of the healthiest looking refugees i’ve ever seen coming over here to kill us, and we’re sending the planes and ships to get them.

The pezzonovante are putting up a conservative mormon solely to take states from Trump.

If she wins, there aint no next time.

Melting pot works best if people look alike and speak the same language. Whites look alike and — within a couple of generations — spoke just English. Melting pot accomplished.

Immigrants tend to be non whites and they speak their own language, for the most part. The first one is very hard to break and the language thing is not going to happen with proud Hispanic mestizos speaking their colonial masters’ Spanish language as a matter of pride.

but what they really mean is the Italian-Irish-Polish-Hungarian-Romanian-Jewish-Russian-Swedish-Norwegian-French-Dutch-Scottish-Welsh-English vote. That’s the nature of the American melting pot. ............................ Errrr? didn’t we have a large “German” block of voters? Would they not vote for Herr Trumpe?

And that means, before long, the Democrats will — once again — have to find a new core constituency.

The bulk of the left are found in the welfare state, or connected to it.

And Cankles stacks the Supreme Court with anti-Constitution progressive tools & we lose the nation. That’s something to be “optimistic” about, right?

Vote Trump 2016

This was an interesting viewpoint. I’ve read several different articles about Mr. Gelernter, and I’m prepared to believe that he understands his generation better than I do.

Cause once Blacks and Hispanics each figure out that they BOTH can’t be #1 in the racial grievance pecking order for gibmedat handouts, it’s gonna provoke a brawl that will tear the Democrat Party apart.

This is the faulty logic that IMHO lies at the root of the conflict between the National Review types and Trump and his followers. They see Latinos and by extension, Muslims, as being no different than the various waves of European immigrant groups that came to the U.S., and within a generation or two, “melted” into the great American melting pot. There’s some truth to it, but unfortunately, not enough. For the most part, they are coming from places where the way of life is several important degrees more “exotic” to the American way of life, but more importantly, they are coming to a place that no longer delivers the message of assimilation, that no longer proudly touts what it is about us that has made this a great country. It’s also a smaller world, and the separation from the home country, particularly for Latinos, is not as pronounced.

What it all adds up to is that it’s far less likely that these immigrants will by and large assimilate into the wider melting pot than it is that the melting pot will change to accommodate them, to the detriment of the greatness of this country.

This is why assimilation and freedom to succeed in America is so important. And why a single common language is so necessary.

Yep, two Constitutionally ineligible Cubans is really something to look forward to. If Rubio’s amnesty plan passes, you don’t ever have to worry about conservatives winning another race. And if Cruz’s TPP passes, it is also goodbye U.S.A. However, there will be people here consuming, not manufacturing.

Even if Trump loses he has given this country so much. He has pushed back and exposed the uniparty and the globalists.

If Hillary wins, she will establish a Federal Polling Department. THEY will let us know who is ahead in pre-election polls, Leftist #1 or Leftist #1.

There we go again - Cruz and Rubio have been found wanting in all areas - I guess a lot of folks need some reason to keep their wallets shut so they don't have to actually do anything to try to stanch the spurting artery of America's throat.

Be useful (instead of a useful tool for Hillary) and donate to Trump and Donate to FR while you're at it.

Naivete is sometimes mistaken for optimism. I’m not betting on there being a “next time around.” 2016 may be the last time around.

Not interested. I have seen these two going from being stars to making horrible decisions. Cruz was set up for 2020 or 2024 and cut his own throat. Rubio will never be trusted on immigration, not that it will matter if Trump loses cause we are done for anyway.

Per “Hillary’s America”, white southern Democrats switched to Republican when they started to hit the middle class. Hispanics are starting to do the same.
That’s why Democrats want to import more poor hispanics.
