Let’s review:
The Iranians know who their nuclear scientists are.
They know that Amiri went to KSA in 2009 and didn’t come back.
They could see his peculiar blogs and his youtube rant about being kidnapped, being offered large sums of money, living in the USA (presumably on the large sums of money..), etc.

Either: 1) the Iranians sent the guy to sow disinformation; or, 2) they would have to assume he gave away their secrets to their most hated enemies. Being the Iranians, they might have even sent him, then decided to treat him as if he had been turned because he might have been. Hillary’s emails might have provided corroboration for the last concept. But any counterespionage operation worthy of the name would have assumed the worst, without Hillary’s foolish blubberings. Iran does not have a monolithic government, but various competing powerbases at each other’s throats; being weak in a matter like this would not exactly advance one’s prospects. Amiri’s fate was sealed the minute he disappeared in KSA, for whatever reason.

But if all this smoke hurts Hillary and costs her the Presidency, Amiri will have served the US well.

Now we have the Saudi arrests of Podesta pal al Talal and friends after Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen lobbed the scud into Saudi Arabia...
Would not be surprised if al Talal knew about the Iranian scientist since the scientist was nabbed out of SA while on the Hajj ... wonder if al Talal was regularly updated by the Clinton state dept what the scientist revealed, etc...
