States run the elections, not the feds. There are eleventy-seven bazillion people on the ballot. (Ok, that’s an approximation: it’s eleventy-seven bazillions, eight hundred and ninety-two by exact count.) Including all the third party candidates for President, U.S. Senate, and U.S. House, probably fewer than 1,500 are running for federal office. We’re electing everything from dogcatchers on up. The elections will go forward whatever the Sun King says.
