If Obama cancels the presidential election, who will stop him?

Many of you have heard the conspiracy theory that Black Lives Matter and other paid thug protest groups will cause so much chaos in the streets that Obama will use it as an excuse to cancel the presidential election and remain president. I do not think that will happen.

However, I asked my wife Mary a rhetorical question: "If Obama did cancel the election, who would stop him?" Folks, the terrifying answer which we all know is "no one." For eight years, even after we gave Republicans control of the House and Senate, the GOP has allowed Obama to break the law and ignore the Constitution at will. Congress has ignored their power of the purse and funded everything Obama has decreed. Senate majority leader Republican Mitch McConnell said that no matter what Obama does, impeachment is off the table.

On or shortly after November 8, 50 State Legislatures will, one way or another, appoint 535 Electors.

That’s all there is to it.

some time ago, Lamar Alexander the governor elect went to the governors mansion and threw ex governor Blanton out a month or so before the normal date. He had been sworn in as was the governor.

Trump should be calling Lamar to learn how it is done

Brexit + Trump would mean the proles are waking up. Get some Le Pen action in France and we’d have something going.

“I don’t think Obama wants to president anymore. He has his sights set on bigger things.....the Supreme Court.”

Are you kidding? Obama doesn’t have the work ethic required to be a Supreme Court justice.

I think he’d prefer to be U.N. Secretary General. That ‘job’ would be a perfect fit for him, as there isn’t squat for real work involved, and he could continue living his kingly lifestyle, jetsetting and pontificating around the world.

He’d also be able to talk down to the U.S. and other western nations like he really wants to. He’s a malignant narcissist with delusions of grandeur. I’m sure he thinks being head of the U.N. would make him Emperor of planet Earth.

A lame duck president has little actual authority to order something as earth-shaking as martial law. While technically he is still in command until the inauguration, his title means less than that of the president-elect.

I doubt any president would get support from the military to enforce martial law when his term was formally in its last days. In fact, any attempt to do so might be just the impetus needed to install the new president early.

If a big enough False Flag incident is orchestrated, NO ONE will be compelled to stop ZERO from suspending the election or inauguration.

Do you all recall that after 911, Rudy remained in office beyond his term?

After that, NYC Mayor Bloomberg simply ignored the term limits statute and remained in office. Needless to say, the events of 911 changed everything.

0blah-blah? He will simply remain in office "until things are under control, and the nation is safe again."

I think he’d prefer to be U.N. Secretary General.

I think that as a US citizen he is not allowed to become UN Secretary General, that position - in the infinite wisdom of the UN's founders - being reserved for citizens of nations not members of the UN Security Council.

So he can still do it, but he will have to re-activate his Indonesian or Kenyan citizenships, first. :)

“Maybe the SS would...”

It wasn’t that long ago that it would have been unthinkable for any American to refer to the Secret Service as the SS, but I see it all the time, these days.

I’m of an age, that I still cringe when I see it abbreviated that way.

I was just trying to abbreviate my post - but yeah, I hear you. It could have been named: The Presidential Security Guard or the TPSG ... sounds more mundane.

Did he ever deactivate them?

his title means less than that of the president-elect.

Uhm, no it doesn’t. The president-elect is powerless.
For a case study, look up the transition between Herbert Hoover and FDR.

Not gonna happen. Elections are the fig leaf they use to make us think they have at leat some legitimacy. Without that leaf, the wheels come off.

Agreed. While I doubt it would happen, Odumbo has a complete disregard for procedures and the law. Such a move would throw the country in turmoil as this has never occurred before, and the Rats would support it all the way.

There are those of you who seem to believe that the rule of law supersedes all else. But you also seem to ignore that the Rats have been breaking the law for 8 years with no pushback.
