I have been taken to task for statements contrary to the anti Ryan thought prevalent here but....

An upside need not be the reality. The apparent reality is that contrary to the desires of many, Ryan is going to prevail and an endorsement makes no real difference in the primary outcome.

The reality is that Trump and Ryan are going to need to in some manner reach the necessary accord to govern.

I observe and issue a finding. The above comment is the finding and does not reflect political desire

Neither can I. Sure, Ryan “endorsed” Trump, but he’s done nothing but pile on since. Just what does endorsing Ryan do for Trump’s campaign?

The very notion of “party unity” is utterly ridiculous. To the “leadership” of the Republican Party, party unity amounts to we (the sheep)going along with them; our opinions and choices be damned.

Ping to Sarah's Amazing List!

The CNN headline, I almost typed "CCTV". Might as well be China Central Television.

Ryan Needs to Go.

He Just Does.

If is gets voted out, I will literally jump for joy.

“Can’t see the upside of DJT’s Ryan endorsement - even if Nehlen claims to be unconcerned.”

Looks like Trump paid Ryan back with his own coin. Same goes for McCain.

You’re conventional political statement does not reflect what I consider to be the reality of politicians like Paul Ryan and John McCain bought and paid for by elite business and banking leaders who want open borders and dealings with Muslim countries, along with the silencing of those who oppose the above as ‘haters’ not to mention people who dissent from things like ‘gay marriage’.

Its not quite as simple as ‘going along to get along’ in my book.

Can’t see the upside of DJT’s Ryan endorsement - even if Nehlen claims to be unconcerned.

Strategic bone tossed to the traitors to show he's the bigger man and actually focused on the bigger goal of stopping Hillary. Can't hurt him but will make life tougher for Ryan and company if they remain recalcitrant.

The upside is it takes the “GOP is divided because of Trump’s behavior” and “Trump is in a spat with Ryan” stories out of the press’s hands. That’s it. Politicians are full-time backstabbers, only looking out for their own interests. Ryan isn;t going to reciprocate, he hates what Trump is planning to do, and will try to undermine it, to the extent his constituents allow him to.

The way I see it, he gave up a few worthless endorsements, nothing more. I don’t like it either, but the more I think about it, the more I think it was a good move. He spent a little bit of capital, for sure, but it won’t cost him very many supporters - especially if they see his tone and method of endorsement, he read them word for word, as though somebody else wrote them, from a piece of paper. Then he went “heads up and gave his usual, from the heart presentation to the rally.

I understand the endorsement of Paul Ryan, but not John McCain. Ryan is the speaker, and we don’t know he’s going to lose.

People need to get back to (or get to) voting for what they believe instead of playing these inane chess games with our lives, voting for this one so that the other one will appear a certain way. There is way too much focus now on personality and the personal aspects and too little concern with policies and beliefs. This ends up with what I think of as the “but he’s my son” syndrome - the mother who still believes in and supports her murdering son because the emotional connection goes above the moral fact that he has murdered someone.

I despise Ryan but Trump endorsing the GOPe is NOT a deal breaker for me: Folks, we are literally standing on the precipice and are in danger of seeing this country FALL.....The British Empire, the Nazis, the Japanese, The Russians all FAILED at what muslims will soon be able to accomplish if Hillary Clinton is elected....Put your g-d big boy pants on, forget your pride and GET ON THE TRUMP BANDWAGON.

.. strategic bone tossed to the traitors to show he's the bigger man ..

Probably. But it doesn't help the valuable subtext of this campaign being, let a thousand mini Trumps bloom.

True, but those weren't front page/ top of the hour stories. I understand the realpolitik. Just not sure the gain outweighed leaving Nehlen swinging in the wind.

I don’t think Trump’s endorsement has much effect - on the surface it looks like leaving Nehlan swinging in the wind, sure. I just don’t think the “read from the script” endorsement is going to help Ryan much, if at all. The question is “what fraction of the voters is really pissed.” Those will reject Ryan, no matter what.

I strongly suspect that “someone” spiked Paul Ryan’s glass
of water with some sort of substance that causes dry mouth
and causes one to GULP water (during his debate with Joe
Biden in 2012). . And GULP he did, GULP, GULP, GULP, GULP,
GULP, GULP, Ryan was looking peaked, while Biden was
grinning like a monkey, teeth glinting in the lights.

TRUMP needs to BRING HIS OWN WATER TO DEBATES and DO NOT
ALLOW ANYONE TO TOUCH IT & WATCH IT LIKE A HAWK!!

It hurts Trump because it makes him look like the junior partner. Ryan publicly snubs Trump by refusing to go to his Wisconsin campaign rally. Yet Trump goes ahead and contritely endorses Ryan after publicly “non endorsing” him a few days earlier.

Even after Trump endorsed Ryan did not speak directly to it and sent his press flack flunky out. Not good optics there at all for Trump.

Look, Trump pretended to back Paul Ryan and Paul Ryan pretended to be appreciative .

Not at all. Ryan refused to appear with Trump, refused to make a statement himself last night and will continue to frag Trump at every opportunity.

Trump has been paying too much attention to his advisors, many of whom are, and have been, losers

I agree. Trump should never have gone to Wisconsin if Ryan & Walker are not all in to win the state. Write it off and move on.

Yeah, the McCain thing reeks of consultant/staff “advice.” Unlike Amnesty Ryan he is in a competitive race.

Trump is getting beat up on party unity nonsense. Fact is the party doesn’t want to unify to Trump’s benefit. They want him to lose or be so hamstrung he can’t advance his agenda as POTUS. Ryan acting as the senior partner in their relationship is all about that.

Nothing Trump can do about that. He needs to move on from those who do not him to win, IMO. If that means writing off a few blue/purple states so be it.
