Paying Ransom to Terrorists is Subject to Prosecution (in 2014)

Diane Foley, the mother of journalist James Foley, who was beheaded by ISIS on August 19, told ABC News that government officials threatened the Foleys to stop them from paying a ransom to free their son. The threats reportedly came from a prominent military officer on the White House’s National Security Council, who warned them that paying a ransom to ISIS would support terrorism.

“Three times he intimidated us with that message. We were horrified he would say that. He just told us we would be prosecuted. We knew we had to save our son,” she said.

James Foley’s brother, Michael, told ABC News that a high-ranking State Department official threatened him with prosecution for breaching anti-terrorism laws if he paid ISIS. The threats prompted the Foleys to stop seeking donations to pay for James’s ransom through crowdsourcing, Michael said.

“Article from September 2014”......

Just another bunch of paper as far as odumbo and his ilk are still around. Our laws were not made for them and in particular the Clinton Gang of Thieves.

but...you fail to see...this wasn’t ransom.

It was merely a one time payment, made simultaneously with the release, to settle old issues. it literally has, ahem, nothing to do with the release. separate deal. therefore it’s not ransom.....

it’s only us idiots who fail to recognize this legal nuance.

Families of terrorists should be taken hostage in response to any hostage-taking. That would quickly put a stop to it.

... unmarked cargo planes ...

I am willing to wager a considerable sum of money that this is one aircraft that could have had LARGE U.S.A. markings in fluorescent paint and it would have been welcomed at Teheran's airport or anywhere in Iran. It was only needed to be unmarked at the point of departure for the sake of Obama's unmitigated FAIL with Iran!

Thank God we have the Republicans in Control of Both Houses of Congress to Prevent Mr Trump from doing anything for the American People. If only they saw the opposition as they see their Party Leader.

Their women and children are mere property to them- they won't care. And since we are the good guys, we don't do that anyway.

So take their parents and grandparents. Put a bullet in them for each hostage executed.

The precident has been set.
