Voter ID laws are meant to suppress votes and not combat the kind of voter fraud that can turn elections, because that kind of fraud is not done up front through individual votes cast. It’s done in the back room where hundreds or thousands or tens of thousand votes can be manufactured.
What!? Voter ID laws are intended to ensure that only bona fide voters cast ballots and only one time. The only votes being suppressed should be illegal votes. The rest of your statement about voter fraud is certainly valid.
Rather ID laws were put in place to match the name with the voter. States do that via one having either a driver license of a picture ID. I feel very confortable when I present my ID when I go to vote because at least someone else did not steal my identity. The ID comes from the state DMV.
There are also other ways to do voter fraud which also includes machine and paper ballots.
Really. What voters are being suppressed?
There's lots of this going on. Per Alinksy, it's one of those fun things your leftist worker bee likes to do and it keeps the official hands clean. It's rampant in places like southern Wisconsin, where Chicago folks are bussed in to vote in several precints.
Voter ID laws are meant to suppress INVALID votes.
I'd have to disagree. Voter ID laws are meant to make sure that only people qualified to cast a ballot do so.
The facilitation of fraud is the only reason to oppose voter ID laws.
