Insurers want to crank up the cost of health insurance premiums by as much as 45 percent for Illinois residents who buy coverage through the Affordable Care Act's marketplace.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, the most popular insurer on the state's Obamacare exchange, is proposing increases ranging from 23 percent to 45 percent in premiums for its individual health-care plans, according to proposed 2017 premiums that were made public Monday. The insurer blamed the sought-after hikes mainly on changes in the costs of medical services.

Irony lost on the MSM...a ‘marketplace’ that allows unilateral massive increases in premiums is not a marketplace. It’s a monopoly.

All according to plan (though just a bit ahead of schedule).

It’s designed to create an outcry to bring back the Public Option, which is the next step in the march towards single payer.

My inside knowledge of the IL plans is they are losing big-time money on these exchanges.

Now, who didn’t see this coming?

A 45% increase for my age would put the $500 per month bronze plan at $725.

They had to shut down the Land of Lincoln(LOL) co-op a few weeks ago. 49K customers have to get new coverage and are likely to have to start over again on deductibles..

And after more increases in 2018, President Trump will be blamed. The blame torch will be passed from Bush to Trump as Obama slithers back under the rock from which he came.

A lot of people are discovering that health insurance is not as necessary as we used to think.

And not one person in DC will suggest that removing the government handcuffs would solve the problems for patients, providers and insurers alike.

It’s necessary if you can’t get it once you become sick, but once that obstacle is removed, it’s much cheaper to go without until serious problems arise.

If you don’t buy insurance, you’re called a free rider, but your Obamacare penalty goes to pay for other people’s subsidies, the real free riders.

Basically exactly my first thought...except O’Bunghole will not slither away...we will never ever ever be rid of him especially as the media will crawl over broken glass to get him to pontificate on every single thing Trump thinks sais or does as if he was the oracle of freakin’ Delphi

I am not one to normally bet the farm. However, if I lost my employer coverage and had to pay $9K a year for Bronze coverage I’d probably go without. That is what Gold level
Cobra coverage would have cost me a few years ago. More likely I would try to tweak my income to either get a subsidy or a hardship waiver under the 8% rule. I would then be eligible to buy a Bronze plan or catastrophic coverage for around $250 a month.

The thing is, the odds of getting sick enough to reach your deductible are actually pretty low. Actually, REALLY low, unless you spend a lot of time at McDonald’s...

Health insurance is a good thing, but like everything else, one must consider the cost. Would you buy a $100,000 life insurance policy for $1,000 a month?

I’d take the chance that if I did get a major illness, I could put off most of the expense until next year, and then buy a gold plan!

They’re the ones who designed Obamacare that way, and then forced us all under it. I just wanted to be left alone.

MSM,Libs and dems continue to claim obamacare is working! They trot out the smoke and mirror numbers (which confuses me) about health care cost have “slowed” down to the lowest levels ever.... Then they claim healthcare cost was always increasing and obamacare had nothing to to do with the increases. The best one is, “a majority of people in the market place receive subsidies so these increase will not affect them and some may see their rates decrease with increased subsidies”. One day the government is going to run out of other peoples money....
