Charles Koch warns politicians are offering ‘frightening’ answers to improve society

COLORADO SPRINGS — Billionaire industrialist Charles Koch on Saturday chastised the political class, saying that those seeking public office were offering "frightening" answers and largely failing to promote a society that provides opportunity for all.

“Our goal is to unite people from all walks of life to work for what we call a free and open society — a society of opportunity, of free speech, free exchange, and what we call permissionless innovation,” Koch told conservative donors assembled in a hotel ballroom here for the opening reception of his political network’s semiannual retreat.

“This would be a society where people succeed not by rigging the system, but by helping others improve their lives,” Koch said.

“It would be great if politicians were supporting us in these efforts,” he added, without calling out any by name. “And a few are. But, by and large, they aren’t. And the good news is that we have built this network for just such a condition. And that puts us in position to make progress, in spite of the current political situation, where we don’t really, in some cases, have good options.”

The chief executive of Koch Industries, who is worth an estimated $44 billion, described an “increasingly stagnant, two-tiered society, with the rich and politically connected doing well, and most everybody else stuck down below.”

“No wonder that people have by and large lost their optimism,” he said, adding that the answers provided by politicians are “frightening.”

If this report is true, Koch is vague about what solutions he has in mind to adress the problem of two-tiered society. He criticizes presidential candidates but fails to spell out what is his alternative. Or is this just a rhetoric which is divorced from what he is really up to? I have to question his sincerity, based on his track record. These days, one-time archvillains of liberals are suddenly viewed as sensible people by liberals, which I find amusing. They should thank Trump for improving their image among liberals. Who knows? Next time liberals meet them, they may even give Koch's a nice hug and a bouquet.

Sounds quite Marxist.

What makes his opinion weigh more than yours or mine?

I can see why Trump wants to stay away from them.

Frightening to the Koch’s and their fellow travelers or frightening to the working tax payers?

Probably a billion dollars or so.......

“When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion - when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing - when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors - when you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don’t protect you against them, but protect them against you - when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice - you may know that your society is doomed.”

They think they “know” what is best for us. They believe that they know it better than we do.

Money changes people. If they have no moral compass, they become idiots, swaying in the wind to whatever "new" Weltanschauung comes their way. I had thought better of the Kochs, I was wrong.

He complains about a lot, but hasn’t managed to clean up his own backyard.

Either he is a theorist completely divorced from reality (as many trust fund babies are, please see Bill Ayres), or his actual view is unappealing for most people so he’s trying to dress it up in order to make it palatable.

Recently he wrote an op-ed on education reform, but I looked up his home state system and it isn’t doing great. Furthermore, this is a state that (last I checked) is trying to give away land to entice people to live there. He and his family are and have long been a very big deal there, and I’m seeing no proof in the pudding.

“This would be a society where people succeed not by rigging the system, but by helping others improve their lives,” Koch said.

Evidently Chuck thinks he's the second coming of Jesus Christ.

Not impressed with Koch. I expected real leadership. I would not follow this guy anywhere.

The Immigration Protection Act:

You all are still sheeple.

Revoke the US citizenship for ALL H-1B globalists.

Revoke citizenship of Kochs, Gates, Bezos, Zuckerberg, Tim Cook, Larry Page, & Soros.

To fight the war you must first acknowledge it exists.

You all are still too cowardly. These mentioned are exterminating you. Get it?
