Sanders Voters Have A Lot More In Common With Conservatives Than They Think
The Federalist ^ | 07/28/2016 | Henry Scanlon

Yes, Bernie supporters, we’ve been there, where you are. We’ve been there for a long time.

By Henry Scanlon JULY 28, 2016 Email Print Bernie Sanders supporters may share some common ground with constitutional conservatives beyond just our history of being callously, cavalierly, and constantly screwed by the entrenched political establishment, and being rendered incapable of doing anything about it due to their Praetorian Guard of ink-stained political operatives who pretend to be journalists. (Did anyone get a load of Scott Pelley’s smooch-fest with Hillary on “60 Minutes” the other night?)

Maybe we aren’t as far apart as those same ink-stained self-designated warriors for truth would have us think. If that’s the case, maybe we have something to talk about, and this might just be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

But first, Bernie supporters should note three things well about the uncool, unfair, and unconscionable sabotage they have been subjected to by Debbie Wasserman Schultz: If WikiLeaks had not tapped into and then publicized the Democratic National Committee emails, she would have gotten away with it. Wasserman Schultz is no criminal mastermind (to say the least): She is a functionary doing exactly what she knows she was expected to do, a small cog in a much larger machine. Third, her bad-faith malfeasance would have been exposed much earlier if a press that was interested in revealing the truth rather than turning a blind eye to it (because they approve of the goal) had done its job, or half its job, or maybe a tenth of its job

This is no isolated incident. It is exactly the kind of “thumb on the scale” cheating, aided and abetted by a complicit, complacent media, that folks on the Right have been victimized by over and over for decades.

I know plenty of bernouts that are nephews’ friends.

They LOVE gay marriage, dont give a #### about trangender bathroom use. Say whatever you feel you are you are.

Feel JUST AWFUL for the black man’s and illegal’s plight, as well as women.

But would never live in a ghetto.

They are lazy, sleep around more than the LAST generation, and I see nothing redeeming in them.

So if the new wave of though on FR is going to be “hey, bernie’s folk are a lot like us”, I’ll be VOMIING a lot more than before.

Did they have liberals? Then I could unerstand the need for them.

I’d like to think I have some Roman blood in me from Italy.

Might explain why I am ready and willing to take the left down regardless of November’s outcome.

Trump winning would just make it a LOT EASIER.

I live and work around a lot of the Bernie types described therein. I was basically raised to be one. Not the street urchins that you see hanging around the DNC, but just well-educated, well-behaved, well-meaning civilized ultra-liberals. I respect them actually, if you go to the places where they live (again as distinguished from Hillary supporters, who are generally the masters and slaves on the urban plantations), the schools are good, there’s very little crime, the kids are well-cared for, everything’s clean and quiet. It’s just that they are wedded politically to an ideology that they think is altruistic, but it’s an unrealistic assessment of the basis of their own quality of life, which is Western civilization, Judeo-Christian ethics, capitalism, and the American way of life. They think that it’s all ill-gotten gains that they should feel guilty for, and somehow if they elect a Bernie type magically everyone else will also be able to participate in it. They just haven’t really thought it through, and until they’re slapped in the fact by some type of realization, they won’t.

If only 2 out of 4 Sanders supporters would vote Trump just for spite, we may yet pull this off. Then again, who’s counting the votes?

You’re going to catch crap for that but I’m basically with you. The truly evil types among the Sanders crowd are few and far between, with the rest well-intentioned but misguided.

That’s a stark contrast to the Clinton crowd where the well-intentioned types are few and far between.

Sanders supporters got an education in the real world this year like no other. It’ll be real interesting to see where it leads them.

Yes, I’d agree except that I’d say that the Clinton crowd is mostly made up of bloc voting minorities who don’t really give much thought to the whole thing one way or the other, they just do what they’re told, and then the evil ones are the ones who benefit from their votes and keep them in a perpetual state of fear, poverty, and dependence in order to maintain their power.

They don’t trust our government and neither do we. The great impasse lies in the details.
