Speaking of mysterious light. The night before the 4th of July I saw 4 large orange balls come into a V formation over the local small airport with one ball missing, but it soon flew slowly and soundlessly over the area in front of the car, likely to join the others and complete the V.
Two people were in the car with me. One had ear buds in and I couldn’t get her attention to turn and look out the window. The other was driving and wouldn’t look saying that the airport has lights. I told him I have lived near enough to this airport most of my life and they aren’t their lights. Interestingly enough, though he didn’t look the last orange soundless light came over our front view out the window and he clearly saw it as it slowly moved in front of his. He said he has never seen anything like it and didn’t know what it was.
It was over an airport and it is illegal to fly anything other than planes near there or do lasers. Does anyone know what they were?
You got me. Interesting.
Weather balloon. Or swamp gas. I’ve seen a “weather balloon” traveling south to north at 5 miles per second from eastern Illinois. I computed the velocity from news stories reporting it was overhead in Iowa, which also explained it as a weather balloon.
Do not expect rational explanations for everything, especially newspaper stories. See Charles Fort, who taught me statistics.
