BTW, the ultimate source for this story is Yeni Safak, an Erdogan-controlled Turkish paper.

Which is Turkish for "Volkischer Beobachter".

From what I have read, the nukes were old and could only be armed with instructions from the U.S.

That said, they might be used as dirty bomb material.

I don't think Erdogan would seize the bombs because he would basically be stealing from NATO and he is a member. That would threaten his own membership.

Erdogan will eventually pull out of NATO, but not before he gets everything he can from them.

Right.;-)

If this story were confirmed by an Israeli source, I might believe it.

This is the first reputable source for this issue of potential U.S. involvement in the “coup”...and it is owned by Rubert Murdoch and News Corp Australia.

All that they're reporting is what Turkey is saying. They haven't presented any evidence to support the claim.

Yep.

I've been trying to find new sources for this report, but they all lead back to Yeni Safak, an Erdogan-controlled paper.

I have been thinking along those lines too.

Which I think tells us all we need to know about the story's accuracy.

Will he be given all of the briefings correctly, or will be deliberately misled?

Of course, pure speculation on my part, but as I understand it, the briefings are scaled back renderings of the President's daily briefings.

For the most part, these folks are patriots I believe (but it is a murky world).

I think Hillary and Trump will get the same briefing.

Trump is a very quick study (grasping the big picture first and working into the detail as needed).

Hillary on the other hand is an entitled drunk who will ignore all intel that conflicts with her ideological positions.

That is why Obama missed most of his PDB's. He disagreed with them.

As a news watching Freeper, don't walk away from the story just yet.

It may have legs.

At this point it is an Erdogan fabrication, but why would he try to draw the CIA into the equation.

There are many tentacles at works here.

NATO, old nuclear weapons, Russia, Syria, Gulen, Germany...etc., etc., etc.

There is a rumor floating around that he tried to set up Germany as a safe haven in case the coup started winning.

And, of course, that might be disinformation as well.

Things are never as they seem...until, all of a sudden and on rare occasions, they are exactly as they seem.
