Some, but not all, or even most. When the dust settles, some of them will be the ones barking orders at the rest of us as they serve the new overlords. The rest are surveying the land, playing it to their advantage with moral or indifference and no semblance of dignity, as a maneuver to either survive (as in the real socialist regimes) or simply to get ahead (in democracies and republics where socialism has a powerful political niche).

As an aside, I can barely imagine the US going up against the Nazis or the Imperial Japanese these days. Can you imagine if we had to fight those wars with the same Rules of Engagement we have now? Imagine if we had to fight the war without accidentally killing one “innocent” German or Japanese citzen?
