For anyone who tries to lay blame on the victim, I'd like to know what in earth he could've done differently.

Unfortunately, with the way the police are now targets, we will probably see more of this as police are not to trust the community if the community sees them as the enemy.

Yes. The police made a stupid move there.

After the news story, there’s a youtuber commentary that begins at 3:37. Take that with a grain of salt.

I chose this video because it had some of the better news coverage.

He is going to get, and should get, a very nice settlement from the state for this. No excuse at all to fire the gun. They should fire that officer since he has no ability to handle pressure.

Does anyone see the irony in a behavior therapist being unable to diffuse the situation?

The 911 call that said a gun was involved is the problem. Whoever said that needs to go to jail.

Too good to be true for the BLM types. I do not buy it.

Trigger-happy cop, for sure. He needs to lose his job. Thankfully the victim is still alive.

Whichever officer dropped the hammer on that man, should be in cuffs.
No excuse. The officer should never be permitted to hold a weapon again.
The gentleman that was shot reminds me of one of my neighbors, great man with great children, vet and straight up genuine American citizen.

Negligent discharge? Looks like the officer needs to explore the exciting opportunities in retail security at his local mall.

Don’t care to watch it. Did he identify himself as a therapist?

Thank God he survived. And may God bless him for protecting the patient in his charge, and keeping that young man from being shot, who would not have been able to process police commands.

Police training has become militarized in all aspects, and the outcome is not surprising. Cops are trained to control a scene with force, intimidation, verbal abuse with foul language, (shock and awe). They are not taught to process information, use critical thinking and judgement.

To end all this crap, citizens should attend police training as part of oversight. People would be shocked that the cops in most cases are just behaving as they were told to in training.

The officer made a mistake in this case. That seems clear. But with the imminent danger of assassination facing police, especially from black suspects, I am surprised we don’t see more of this.

If I were a police officer and told there was a black suspect with a gun, I would probably be quite agitated, in some fear, and far more prone to make an error.

Spin what? I didn’t see anyone get shot. Just a bunch of blah, blah, blah, BS commentary from some local yokel MSM news outlet. What did I miss?

This was a bad move by the officers. One look at the young man would tell you he was autistic, somewhat obese, sitting harmlessly, and ‘stimming’ or rocking back and forth.
The Therapist was literally on his back with hands extended.

Both the therapist and the client will be traumatized by this experience , but in different ways. Even though the therapist is very likely not in the wrong here, he may find it difficult to get approval to work in this field afterward.
Of course, with the right lawyers, he really won’t have to worry about living expenses.

If things are as they appear, the officer that did that should be fired and possibly imprisoned.

Saw an interview with the black guy. He asked the cop why he shot him. He said that the cop said; “I don’t know”.
