Basically, he wants to define “conservatism” as last year’s liberalism.

Without social conservatism, there is no conservatism.

unprincipled right-wing populism

The People’s principles are not valid?
Trump IS rebuilding the Republican party.

Instead of embracing it, and seeing the potenial for a landslide sweep of GOP into ALL offices on his coattails, they are still whining and moping...

Yup, but the difference is the conservative wing of the Republican party still thinks that they can vote their way out of the mess.

Trump gets defeated - especially if it's not 100% legitimate - and I believe those people will start changing their minds.

I'll readily admit, I'm one of the people who still prefers the ballot box. The alternative is uglier than I'd like to contemplate. We will see in November.

Why don’t these types just switch to the Democrat party where they so obviously belong

For the same reason that Democrat shills call into to talk shows and begin with "I'm a long time Republican voter, but I'll be supporting Hillary! this year because blah blah blah..."

Being just slightly counterculture - not enough to get them disinvited from all the cool parties, but enough to get them labeled as "independent thinking" - works to their advantage.

“Stephen Ian “Steve” McIntosh (born July 3, 1960) is an American author, activist, lawyer, and entrepreneur. He is the founder and president of Now & Zen, Inc., and an influential writer in the field of integral thought.”

“Now & Zen, Inc., headquartered in Boulder, Colorado, is a brand of “natural lifestyle products”, featuring the famous Zen Alarm Clock, which wakes users gradually with a series of acoustic chimes. All Now & Zen products have been conceived and designed by McIntosh, with a brand aesthetic that combines the harmonic proportions of sacred geometry with motifs from traditional Japanese culture. The company’s mission is to provide products that remind people that they live in the presence of the sacred, however they may define it.”

“As a result of his focus on progressive spirituality and cultural evolution, in the late 1990s McIntosh became involved in the integral movement. In 2000 he was invited to join leading integral author Ken Wilber’s Integral Institute, where he served in both the Integral Art branch and the Integral Business branch. He left the Integral Institute on good terms in 2002 in order to establish himself as an independent voice in the integral movement.

“This led to the 2007 publication of his first book: Integral Consciousness and the Future of Evolution: How the Integral Worldview Is Transforming Politics, Culture and Spirituality. Integral Consciousness was followed in 2012 by McIntosh’s second integral philosophy book, Evolution’s Purpose: An Integral Interpretation of the Scientific Story of Our Origins. Then in 2015 his third spiritual philosophy book was published: The Presence of the Infinite: The Spiritual Experience of Beauty, Truth, and Goodness.

... influential leaders and intellectuals on the right...

If they are so influential how come Presidential nominee Trump?

If they are so intellectual how come they support an imagined resident illary?

It will be a fringe minority party that will never again get more than 15% of the vote.

FK Bushism. That nonsense killed Bush’s approval numbers,
which gave us Obama.

This guy is an idiot. Who do they think is not voting for that "sane Republican party" that sells us out to dems.

Not a single rino stood a chance this election, they could only amass about 10% of the republican vote TOGETHER....get a clue, the base despises you.
