Never Hire a Powerskirt

Looking back, we had, in the person of Teddy Roosevelt, the finest President in the history of this country. He had the spirit and determination that matched the times and the land. Then the women got the vote, and everything went to hell. While our boys was overseas fighting the Kaiser, the women got Prohibition put in. Drinking and gambling and whoring were declared unlawful. All those things which come natural to men became crimes.

–Judge Roy Bean

A quarter century ago, I was sent to my first reeducation camp. The company I was with at the time had been infected with the virus so everyone in a management position was sent off-site to be hectored about the importance of tolerance in the workplace. We did not yet have the word “diversity” to throw around as we were still in the “tolerance” stage of multicultural lunacy outbreak. At least that was the case in my part of the world so they called it “sensitivity training,” which everyone said using air quotes.

The people responsible for starting the sensitivity training were the women in the human resources department. They had changed the name of it to something stupid like “people and relationships” but it was an HR department. For reasons I’ll never understand, the men in charge of the company decided to pack the HR departments with women who immediately started making mischief. Talking to friends at the time, this was happening all over the business world. HR departments full of hens were morphing into sensitivity department full of bitter shrews.

Not long after I had returned from the reeducation camp, I was informed by HR that one of my charges had been making one of the women uncomfortable. She did not like the way he was looking at her. This woman dressed like a street walker and had to be told multiple times to stop showing off her smoking hot body at work. That made no difference. I was told I had to write him up, which I refused to do. That got me in some trouble and forever on the HR hit list, but it was the shape of things to come. My policy was going to be zero tolerance for this sort of terrorism.

That was a long time ago and things have only grown worse. The implosion of Fox News is a great example of why you should avoid hiring women.

Blogger Matt Drudge put up a headline at the top of his popular aggregation website The Drudge Report this afternoon that Ailes will exit the company with a “$40+ million parachute.” There is no link to a story, but a source subsequently told Deadline that Ailes is in exit talks, saying terms of the settlement are being hammered out tonight.

“With internal allegations mounting, it was deemed time for him to go,” the well-placed source said.

21st Century Fox, however, said in a statement: “Roger is at work  The review is ongoing. And the only agreement that is in place is his existing employment agreement.”

Ailes’ ouster comes after Fox News hostGretchen Carlson filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against him on July 6 after her contract was not renewed.

Ailes, the architect of the Fox News as a ratings behemoth and political force, in of June 2015, signed a multi-year contract to continue running Fox News, Fox Business Network, and Fox Television Stations.

Earlier this morning, Drudge linked a headline to today’s New York Magazine story, alleging Fox News star Megyn Kelly had told 21st Century Fox’s investigators that she had been the recipient of unwanted sexual advances from Ailes about a decade ago when she was a correspondent in the Washington bureau. But Drudge used a headline saying Kelly was twisting the knife into her boss.  That post, and headline,  from the wildly popular and influential conservative blogger got media reporters to sit up and take notice.

Perhaps I am more cynical than most, but how did Ailes not see that Megyn Kelly was trouble? There’s nothing wrong with hiring bimbos to read the news on TV, just as long as the bimbos are fine with being bimbos trading on their looks. Women like Kelly trade on their looks, but they are forever bitter about it. That bitterness curdles into a viscous nastiness that almost always leads to claims of discrimination or sexual harassment, when they don’t get what they want. Once again, the facts of life are turning out to be Trumpian.

The lesson here, of course, is to never hire women like Megyn Kelly. It’s like inviting Dracula into your house. No matter how much garlic you have around your neck, you still have a bloodthirsty vampire in your midst. A good rule of thumb is to hire homely women for positions of responsibility, preferably older women. They have no illusions about how males view them. For entry level work like clerks and paralegals, hire mothers as they need the job more than they need to strike a blow for the sisterhood. They are too practical to be feminists.

Otherwise, never hire a powerskirt.

“Woe onto him that has a female boss.”

The very best boss I ever had was a female, and this was in an IT outfit. She was probably the best boss in the entire corporation. She knew her technical stuff, was a great delegator and motivator, fun to be around during the many staff social functions, liked to drink a bit, mostly a very good judge of character, and listened to those who knew what they were talking about. She gave continuous feedback, almost all good unless one was a real fuchup, so when review time rolled around, it was pretty much pro forma. She did NOT put up with BS, and after a fuchup used up their generous three chances, she’d go after them with a vengeance to get them out of the organization, which the bureaucracy always made a difficult proposition, but was exceedingly good for morale for those of us who worked our arses off. She really was the most fair-minded boss I ever had, and I learned a great deal from her management style, being as how I was a techie type without much in the way of those kinds of skills.

Even though I’m retired now, we still keep in touch and we have lunch together once or twice a year, which she does with several other of the people who used to work for or with her.

Why don’t you go crawl back into whatever hole you slithered your way out of?

The poster is over the target.

I bet you learned very soon the secret words to a happy marriage. Yes Dear. It gives you leverage to find a way to do what you want anyway.

I don’t mean to say a woman CAN’T be a good boss. My experience is that it’s miserable to work under them. It’s a gamble I’m not willing to take when leaving a well paying job for another.
I’ve also had terrible male bosses.....
I don’t believe male genitalia puts a manager’s crown on one’s head.

I have run into some very good female boss types but they tend to be rare.

When they are good they are very, very good but when they are bad they are horrid. Having said that, I've run into more male psychopaths.

You're right about saying, Yes Dear," but only if you use the right tone of voice.

What used to be proerly labeled Personnel Dept. was morpher into a vaginocracy known as Human Resources. The gynocrats who populate this littel fiefdom revel in their petty torments to an otherwise productive workforce. They generate sensitivity training, sexual harassment policies, and performance review criteria at variance with the real world.

An example of the latter, is a career management program for workers in their late 50’s. The guy is 58 years old looking to ride out the tail end of his career, and retire in 6-7 years. They are typically not interested in advancing their career to any real extent. They want to do their job, and be left alone. Yet I was forced to give that someone a poor performance review because they had not set appropriate goals for their career path. He did fine work, was never a problem, and was dependable and capable. After what the gynocrats in the vaginocracy did to him, he became a toxic employee. He was angry (rightly so) and simply didn’t care anymore. After I left that company for my own sanity, he was terminated on perfomance, and had a hard time finding a job until I had a position open for him and brought him on-board at my new job because of his age.

I most certainly was. For 10+ years.

Yes, the frequency of sex declined over time, and below a certain threshold the vampiric tendencies became apparent.

I’m one such woman.

I’ve had ONE fantastic female boss. She came into her position fully aware of how back-stabbing and gossip can destroy moral and cause high turn over. She was militant about one thing. NO GOSSIPING about one another - zero tolerance. One new hire insisted on bashing another female who was taking time off for medical reasons. She got one warning, then out the door. It was a low-level job, but it’s the best work environment that I ever had.

Other than that one job, I didn’t even like working *with* women at all. There’s always that ONE terrible person who’s catty and bitchy and who turns the situation into HighSchool 2.0. She’ll sabotage, gossip, and outright lie to take someone out. If you don’t play ball and help her peck out her target, you end up on the list.

And the others allow her to get away with it.

Guys are SO much easier to work with. They actually enjoy being part of a team. Yes. Most of them will hit on anything in a skirt - they have to try - but if you are clear and humorous with your devastating set down, they actually love it. Then you’ve got respect and friendship.

My former co-worker who is now a direct report of one of my direct reports. He is doing a fine job. His reviews have been excellent. Does good work, is intuitive and has the skills necessary to make positive contributions and mentors several of the junior design engineers on his methods.

He was not forced on my direct report by me, and his reviews are independent of any of my inputs. They are happy to have him and I maintain a discrete distance from him lest it appear I am playing favorites.

He’s got another 10 years of work in front of him if he wants it, and there are possibilities for promotion if he wants them too. But, he was always a hands-on guy, and that’s what he likes. Why try to force some level of leadership/responsibility on to him if he’s not interested in doing it.

He’ll make it to retirement just fine.

I felt at the time he was wronged by HR, and his work with my new company demonstrates that to be the case.

No. All women are always keenly aware of every square inch of skin that is visible. Checked in a mirror from all angles.

What a pathetic “vanity”.

Do you believe NRx is the TheZMan?

Make your case...and try to show some manners...IE, enough with the name calling, and argue the ideas.

If you can.
