Israa Ali was restless. The 19-month-old toddler, dressed in pink to match her mother Amanis pink hijab, whined and tugged at a box of sterile gloves on the medical exam table, demanding attention. Her father, Kareem Ali, shushed Israa as he watched over her sleeping infant sister, Sarah.
Amani Ali was one of 15 patients who had come to the Muslim Association of Puget Sound, or MAPS, mosque in Redmond on Sunday for the launch of a new health clinic. Amani, who is originally from Palestine, does not have health insurance.
The Community Clinic is hosted by MAPS and the Muslim Community Resource center, or MCRC, as a satellite location of the Rainier Valley Community Clinic. According to MAPS, it is the first nonprofit clinic based in a mosque that provides free or subsidized medical care in the state of Washington. The clinic offers basic health care, including wellness exams and screenings and preventive care and education, and refers patients to participating health-care providers. There was even an acupuncturist on site for the launch.
Its for everyone. So if you can get here, well give you health care, said clinic director Nehath Sheriff, noting that the service is not only for Muslims.
Sheriff, 23, is a recent graduate of the University of Washington with a degree in public health.

maybe they will tie everybody’s tubes!
Open clinics on Indian reservations. Right next to the casinos. No mandatory crap. Watch the free market work.
It’s “hosted” by the Muslim Association, but odd it doesn’t mention if it’s FUNDED with taxpayer dollars...
Are they doing female ‘circumcisions’ or Clitordectomy operations there?
TWB
Explosive implants.
There’s an idea.
Well good, I hope they get overwhelmed by their generosity. But I suspect that only Muslims will go there though, or at least the vast majority will be Muslim.
Detain. Deport. Rinse. Repeat.
I doubt Amani is old enough to come from a country that has been put of existence for multiple decades.
They are having a special in Clitoralectomy’s this week.
Ban all muslims.
Remove all muslims.
Never let any muslims in ever again.
So much for them being sterile now. That's as far as I could force myself to read.
This woman is 23 with a degree in WHAT, exactly?
She is NOT a doctor.
She is NOT a nurse practitioner.
She is NOT a physicians assistant.
She isn't even an RN.
Without a license, even a pharmacist's license, she is practicing "medicine" illegally.
You can't give vaccines, you can't dispense medicines of any kind.
Not so much as a tylenol tablet.
For all of the "feel good" attempts by the liberal Seattle Times, this woman is still breaking the law.
I told my wife that just from the pictures, she is also breaking about 15 health statutes.
You need to have access to sterile supplies, and have to wash your hands between patients.
Tough to do in full regalia.
Plus under law, you need to have a legal patient chart made, and follow all HIPAA regulations.
And submit a bill, even if the patients can't pay it.
I would go to prison if I tried something like this.
This is NOT Mother Teresa we are talking about.
The whole propaganda "story" made me ill.
Is there a requirement in Wash State that a “clinic director” has to meet certain qualifications?
Something violates the law, MY a$$ is on the line.
Maybe in a third-world nation this stuff might fly.
But even charities like Doctors Without Borders have to follow basic standards.
You can *call* yourself a "clinic director", but unless you have a degree you are nothing but some back alley schlub doing sex-change operations and plastic surgery.
From my work with doctors, there are strict laws and rules that must be followed, or the doctor (not the director) has almost limitless legal liability.
None of the nurses I worked with would ever diagnose any situation, as a medical diagnosis is a legal term as well.
From my knowledge of Middle East medicine, they can't touch dead or diseased bodies, nor women during their cycle.
So what could they do based on the info from this poor piece of propaganda?
Nothing, at least according to state and federal laws.
But we all know that "laws" are a quaint notion that doesn't apply to protected classes of people.
If the intentions are good, that's all it takes.
BTW, How many Jews do you think they treat at this clinic?
