Are we obligated to begin conversations about him with, “I respect his service but...” Like we are with McCain?

While we don’t like to be called “ex Marines” in Johnson’s case I prefer that term. “Former Marine” refers to those of us who took the oath and lived by the slogan “Semper Fidel’s.” Since he did not meet those criteria, I call him ex-Marine.
