Paul Ryan Will Open the GOP Convention While Battling a Primary Challenge
fortune.com ^ | 7/17/16 | Jay Newton-Small

On Monday morning, House Speaker Paul Ryan will gavel in the 2016 Republican National Convention, which is expected to crown Donald Trump the GOP presidential nominee. That same day, $150,000 worth of television ads will begin airing in Ryan’s Wisconsin House district to support his reelection ahead of an Aug. 9 primary challenge from a self-described Trump acolyte.

Ryan isn’t the first speaker, or leader, to be in trouble. House Majority Leader Eric Cantor lost his seat in a surprise primary loss in Virginia in 2014. House Speaker Tom Foley, a Democrat, lost his reelection bid in 1994. But before that, you have to go back to 1862 for another example of an unseated Speaker.

“Our Wisconsin sources, both GOP and independent, have told us Ryan should be fine. I think that’s right, but I also recall being told that Eric Cantor would win in a walk in June 2014,” says Larry Sabato, head of the University of Virginia’s Center for Politics. “With low primary turnouts you just never know.”

He’s polling 84%, and he is fully aware of what might happen after Cantor lost.

I suspect he will win easily.

What on earth is wrong with the people of Janesville, WI? Ryan’s policies are exactly what is strangling the prosperity of once industrious cities in Wisconsin. These people are in a stupor.

I read yesterday that Ryan is sending out mailers talking about how tough he is on illegal immigration, and national security. He obviously knows which way the wind is blowing, but all he is spouting is hot air.

“He’s polling 84%”

If he was, he wouldn’t be running tv ads.

Source?

He should not be given this prime time in the run up to a primary election.

If he is to be given it, Nehlan must be given a slot of equal length at the convention

“He’s polling 84%, and he is fully aware of what might happen after Cantor lost. I suspect he will win easily.”

Can you share what you’re smoking? He was down to 43% in a real reason pulling in Nehlen. Another factor people don’t talk about is that Trump voters are more enthusiastic and vengeful that GOOe voters and they will show up in higher numbers. That enthusiasm gap for trump voters who do not like Ryan at all probably adds 5 to 10% to Nehlen. Ryan is in big trouble.

Democrats have realized they made a huge mistake either directly or indirectly stumping for Trump & Dave Brat.

There needs to be Dem crossovers and they realize getting rid of Ryan hurts the Dem cause.

Its not only Janesville with Beloit down the road but Kenosha and Racine on the Lake Michigan side with a few Milwaukee suburbs. Remember this is the same district that Les Aspin (D) held for a gazillìon years before becoming BillyJeffs’ DefSec. Glad to see it is getting some national play.
