Six senior army commanders were arrested in connection with the failed coup that began Friday night, including General Akin Öztürk, who in the 1990s was the Turkish military attaché to Israel, a Turkish official told reporters. Öztürk, who later served as the commander of Turkey's air force, served in his country's Tel Aviv embassy from 1998 to 2000. The 64-year-old military figure stepped down as air force commander last year, but continued to serve on Turkey's Supreme Military Council.

The whole coup scenario is sounding more and more like a put-up job by Erdogan. Nobody could be this incompetent. We will find that most of those killed were anti-Erdogan. He is cleaning house in the Stalin style. He will end up as a dictator for life.

This is going to have severe consequences for Erdogan as he will be destabilizing the region even worse. Look for Putin to insert himself in the upcoming situation by igniting a civil war by covert means and then condemning on the national stage Erdogan for being behind ISIS and for crimes against humanity. This will get global condemnation and alienate Turkey from its NATO allies. Then the Russians will likely send a massive force to Turkey to join with the anti-Erdogan forces and wipe Erdogan out. They will then install their own strong man to stabilize the situation.

But as Air Attache, he got to know a lot of IDF people, and that begins relationships.....
As a SECULAR Turk, and a SECUlAR Moslem, he had much more common interest with the IDF than he had with the radical Moslem state military.
