CLEVELAND -- The organization tasked with raising money to mount the Republican National Convention has asked billionaire Republican donor Sheldon Adelson to fill a funding gap, NBC News has learned.
In a letter to Adelson, a Las Vegas casino magnate, the Cleveland Host Committee requested a $6 million after some corporate donors decided to stay away after the controversial Donald Trump won the GOP nominating contest. The committee has raised $58 million of its $64 million goal.
The letter was signed by CHC head David Gilbert.

He won’t want anything in return either.
Did he give the money?
Why should the facility rental, preparations and teardowns afterwards cost $64 million in material and labor?
Labor unions and gouging?
At this point, it’s not clear.
I thought was the GOP Convention.

Hey ‘Fiscal Conservatives’,
try Paygo or Pay your own way else Skip it.
Isn't it time to utilize the tools we have? Or will we continue to bang rocks together like cavemen?
The entire capitol hill system could be run on a virtual shoe string compared to the brick and mortar one we have now! Decentralization would be a start in ending the one stop shopping of influence peddlers.
Is the ‘funding gap’ only due to corporations withholding funds, or could it be that the multitudes of rand-and-file Republicans stopped giving directly to the RNC?
Adelson will want on line gambling outlawed in return is my guess. Governor Christie will either overtly or covertly support it since it will help Atlantic City out of the doldrums (casinos carry the area), and so will Carl Ichan, who now runs the Trump Taj Mahal, to straighten out/replace the management.
Which donors backed out. How can we, the people, punish those bastards.
The names of the corporate donors are out there. Beyond that I don’t know.
