They have not had a coup in over 40 years.
So far, this is by far the best “Rage Day” event.
But their military has always been overshadowing their “civilian” government, since Ataturk! Their mandate was to make sure that Turkey stayed secular. That’s why I am not sure if this coup is necessarily bad! Erdovan was certainly moving toward Islamism and away from secularism.
Let’s face it - in it’s own, brave way, Turkey is proving that Islam and democracy are incompatible. If Turkey can’t, I don’t think any other Islamic country can!
