What Mike Pence Would Bring to a Trump-Pence Ticket
breitbart.com ^ | 14 Jul 2016 | by Ken Klukowski

Indiana Gov. Mike Pence would bring constitutional fidelity, conservative credentials, traditional faith, foreign policy, Washington know-how, and a calm, steady, Midwestern demeanor to a national ticket with Donald Trump, boosting the New York businessman with several types of voters that may prove to be the key to building an electoral coalition that could propel Trump into the White House.

...

Pence began as an outsider who served 12 years in Congress and rose to leadership.

Pence was an Indiana talk show host who took on the party establishment to get into Congress. Once there, he was regularly a thorn in the establishment’s side, routinely opposing the go-along-to-get-along establishment playbook. But he did so as a “happy warrior” who kept disagreement focused on policies, while being friendly and personable with his opponents.

Over time, Pence became very popular among conservatives, and effective at communicating a conservative message through the national media. He was elected the chairman of the Republic Study Committee (RSC), the organization for stalwart conservatives in the U.S. House so that they could coordinate their efforts to maximize conservative outcomes. (Over time it became “cool” to join the RSC, and with the influx of moderates it became both larger and less conservative. That led to the creation of the House Freedom Caucus in 2015, filling the same role originally performed by the RSC.)

Pence repeatedly opposed George W. Bush’s proposals to expand government. When Republicans lost the U.S. House in 2006, Pence took the ultimate anti-establishment step of running against John Boehner to be the leader of House Republicans. He lost that bid, but garners almost 30 voters against the future Speaker, making a name for himself as someone willing to oppose anyone who Pence believed would not lead as a conservative.

Sounds good, but had the selection actually been made, or is Trump leaning in Pence’s direction?

Indiana politicians are already filling out the necessary paper work and submitting it to proper authorities to take his place on November governor ballet. His request to be withdrawn was due by noon today.

See Pence Tweet on Post 12

Then go to 104 and see my reply, banning muslims has been done before by Carter, just as FDR used EO 9066 to intern Japanese in 1942.

EXACTLY, that’s what is SO BRILLIANT about the pick. The last think Trump needs is another clown (like Newt) on the ticket.

I have been voting since 1972, and only once in 11 Presidential elections have I ever voted because of a VP candidate (Palin, of course).

It is difficult to imagine anyone thinking, "I wasn't going to vote for that Trump guy, but I really like Mike Pence, so I'll vote for Trump now." Insert any other name for "Mike Pence" and the effect does not change. This election is all about Trump: people who want him will vote for him, people who don't will vote against him. (No one is actually voting for that other candidate.)

I feel the same way. The VP pick has never changed my vote. I was happy to see Sarah Palin chosen in 2008 but I would have voted McCain over Obama anyhow.

It is good to see that Mike Pence has some conservative credentials and he seems well-rounded and decent. He's definitely a guy who won't embarrass Trump. Must say I'm still lukewarm on him now. I really have to see him in action on the campaign trail to form a better opinion. But the article here makes a good case with regard to him being a solid pick.

Don’t want milquetoast. Don’t want ANYONE that Dana PeRino likes and that little Bush-bot twit loves Pence.

I know i’ll take crap for it but I want either Gingrich or Christie. I want a fighter. I want to rain holy hell down on the Media and the Left. It is war and Pence is no warrior. Gingrich and Christie are warriors.

No Pence!

Well I guess that part is Trump’s role.

I will wait to see how he handles himself. I dont know anything about the guy. But then again, I didnt know anything about Palin either.

I wanted Newt myself for full disclosure.

It's worse than that....

Mike Pence commented on Trump's statements

From Twitter:

I don’t know yet if it will change my vote but it is going to hand Hillary some ammunition on trade and immigration issues, and for good reason. IMO.
