My 16 year old step grandkid is currently making 20 an hour for 2 kids.
I made .50 an hour, and .75 after midnight. I would come home with 5 bucks and think I was rich.
Baths, dinner , clean up and no sleeping on the couch.
Of course this was many moons ago. But still. I was surprised to hear her rate.
There goes the elderly adult homecare industry. /S
What Clinton calls “a real job”, most people would refer to as a “heist”.
Not a real job....but it takes a village??

I like it.
IDIOT, IDIOT, IDIOT, IDIOT, IDIOT!!!!
I agree. I babysat the neighbors kids a few times when I was 15-16. I never considered that a real job. Heck - I don’t even think of the years I had a paper-route (13 to 18 years old) as a real job. Although in hindsight I realize that paper-route taught me a lot about running a business, dealing with people, etc.
She is so tone deaf!
Says the career politician (which is a non-value added waste of space).
Not only that, the average girl who takes one of those jobs quickly learns she has to deal with very real adult conflicts of interest that she never knew existed. The parents want her to report on the kids she’s sitting and the kids don’t want her to. That means she’s got to figure out how to please both the parents and the kids, sometimes a very difficult job. If she figures out how to do it, she’ll be able to make top dollar. Working construction is physically a lot harder, but the HR aspects of sitting can make it emotionally a lot harder.
I wonder how many tens of millions of dollars we tax payers spend on babysitting each year. I’m referring to the situations where Shinequa has 6 kids by 6 different suitors, and grandma is the designated babysitter, receiving our tax dollars to do so, while Shinequa goes out ‘working’ to see if she can increase her ‘income’ with another welfare baby.
The money we have to pay for that babysitting certainly is ‘real’. Is Hillary saying our tax dollars are paying for an unreal job? How about we don’t get taxed to pay for those babysitters anymore.
If what she says is true, then how does she rate a POTUS who’s sole accomplishment was being community organizer / agitator? His skills from that role are apparent almost every day for 7+ years. I STILL don’t understand how America could hire him, TWICE.
And ... I would not ever even hire Hillary as my babysitter, why would I want to hire her as our POTUS ?
I agree. I think she was referring to teenaged girls babysitting, not professionals, so the remark doesn't bother me. But you're right, had Trump said this it would be on a running loop on CNN.
Well what do you expect? She didn’t have time, nor does she have time now for such ‘low, beneath’ ‘herself’ things to do, babysitting, really??? Must be why Chelsea turned out like she has, ‘It take a Village to raise a Child’ didn’t take off so well did it?
Oh and “Chelsea was right down there in the World Trade Center during the whole of 9/11” yeah right, Chelsea wasn’t anywhere around there...
What a POS...I didn’t know there were these types of ‘humans’ out there until they became known in Arkansas, no wonder the people there don’t want them back...stupid ‘carpetbaggers’...UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!
If it pays real money it’s a real job. Cupid stunt.
They often don’t.
At the same time, you often can’t put down informal employment on a job application.
When I was in college, I applied for a number of jobs - I had done a few things like tutoring younger students, stuffing envelopes, etc.
Professors and University staff told me that they couldn’t accept those things as experience. There was no proof I had actually done them. These were the days before e-mail was widely available, they told me they couldn’t make toll calls or otherwise check to see if my references actually existed.
You know, there are some teens who really don’t watch over the kids they are hired to take care of for a few hours, and instead talk on the phone or other such hogwash. Hillary was likely one of those types.
However, there are some babysitters who take the job seriously, and really earn their pay. When I found a great babysitter, I paid her/him well so that I had first dibs.
Trump should repeat all the things she says. Then when they jump him he can say “I simply repeated what Hillary said but forgot to give her credit. Check it out, reporters.”
