Pro sports are a vehicle to dumb down the masses and make them apathetic.
Pro sports makes people devalue the important things in life, and replaces those important things with games played by grown men.
So many teams, statistics and players to follow and keep track of: who has time for all that other stuff when this is what consumes a person?
BTW, this was a plank in the Communist platform in the 1950s: The distraction of Americans with sports.

I’m glad that I am not the only one who sees the overblown and overhyped sports 24/7 the way you put it.
My spouse has been blinded by all sports just about all the time. It’s ok to like, watch and play some but not govern day to day life.
