Micah Johnson never balked at the $600 asking price for an AK-47 assault rifle. The buy was arranged via Facebook, and consummated in the parking lot of a Target.
Seller Colton Crews forgot about the deal until last week, when ex-Army reservist Johnson killed five Dallas police officers and federal investigators tracked Crews down.
I dont even know how I feel about it right now, Crews told the Daily News. I have no idea. Its awful. Its just bad.
Crews, 26, said there was no inkling during their 15-minute November 2014 transaction that Johnson was anything except a military veteran and a solid citizen.

No the AK 47’s the public purchases are semi auto as are the AR’s.
The photo of the weapon supposedly used in the shooting appeared to me to be a Saiga A 47 semi auto. Most said AK 74 but I own a 74 and it did not appear to me to be one.
Semi Auto/Exchange took place in a parking lot.
Besides, the nice lady on the TV news said it was one of those double shot rifles.
In the USA, the colloquial usage, even among serious gun folk, of the tem “AK47” refers to the semiautomatic version (unless full auto is explicitly specified or a jurisdiction/situation legalizing it is understood).
And yes, the death scene photos clearly show the “sniper” had an AK47-pattern rifle with black plastic furniture.
That this has to be explained to you is annoying. Brief posts on a casual discussion board are not expected to have encyclopedic peer reviewed completeness and accuracy.
This article pertains to nothing and the NY Post knows it.
It knows that AK was not used in Dallas so why write the story other than cause trouble.
Crews needs to chill out and certainly get the F off Facebook

The seller said it was a semi-auto in the article.
and no background check on a private sale is required in Texas.
Illegal to purchase guns through the mail, which extends over the internet. 1968 Gun Control Act violated.
You have been around long enough to know better than this, unless you are just trying to picking a fight. You know that a least half of reports of "an AK-47", even on Free Republic is wrong because so many have no idea what that means. You certainly know that the military version of the AK-47 is an automatic weapon, but over 90% of so called AK-47 rifles in this country are fully legal semi-automatic version. Moreover, anyone who has been paying attention know that the reports of an AK-47 or a SKS in the hands of the shooter were quite wrong as the weapon recovered at the scene was a Saiga AK-74, a semiautomatic rifle usually chambered for 5.45mm, not 7.62 as found in the AK-47.
Of course, we do not know what weapon was involved in the transaction at Target was the same weapon used for the shootings, but you certainly know enough information to make the dramatic assertions that you threw out there. That's just stupid. I have bought weapons through the internet, they just ship it to a local FFL dealer, I fill out the paperwork and I walk out with my perfectly legal weapon. I can skip this step if I am buying from someone in Kansas. I can also buy a fully automatic weapon if I get the proper paperwork and pay for the tax stamp. That's incredibly costly, but it can be done legally. I think that you know that as I'm sure that you know the law. But, your comments are stupid. Are you working for Obama or the DNC?
This is not the gun used in the rampage.
Cue for anti-gunners to push for universal background checks. It doesn’t bother them that the murderer could have bought the weapon at a gun store because there were no red flags that would have stopped him.
That would be a slightly modified Saiga. The forward hand grip is what gives it away. The folding rear stock is not oem, probably swapped out for ease of concealment under a jacket. The scope and the scope base are not oem Saiga.
Saiga platform weapons come in many calibers/gauges.
5.45, 5.56/.223, 308, .410, .20, .12 gauge, and of course the 7.62x39 round.
In other words a “fancy” but well built AK-47 variant.
if not properly maintained/cleaned there is a flaw in the SKS. The firing pin needs to float freely. if it sticks there is a danger of multiple rounds firing.
The SKS is not a knock off. It was designed and fielded before the AK47, but did not have a long run after the AK47 was developed.
I bet Zuckerbug just puckered a bit. I hope he gets hoisted by a few billion dollar civil suits.
Each that you little commie!
Not for nothing, but I believe the SKS is still the most issued rifle in the Chinese military. I am not certain of this - but I know it was the case only a few years ago according to Jane’s Defense periodicals.
Saiga AK-74
What does the Post have to do with this story?
Crews is concerned Johnson used the AK 47 he sold him.
Johnson used a Saiga AK-74
There seems to be a lot of confusion about the weapon the Dallas shooter used. The things I see and maybe others want to take a look is an AK 47 flash hider on this weapon in the pic and if you enlarge the pic it appears to me there is the original cover on the charging lever which means it has not been used.
The whole weapon especially the scope just appears too pristine to have been in a terrible explosion. I think its extremely suspect as to whether this was even the real weapon.
Who knows?
