Israelis’ Favorite Thing About Donald Trump? His Style (to Put It Bluntly)

JERUSALEM — Donald J. Trump has been called a lot of things by a lot of people around the world. In Israel, where his comments about remaining “neutral” in peace negotiations raised hackles but his condemnation of “radical Islam” wins plaudits, the word that keeps coming up is “dugri.”

A slang Hebrew term derived from the Arabic for “straight ahead,” dugri describes someone who is frank and blunt no matter the consequences. This is how many outsiders view Israelis, often with considerable discomfort. But here in Israel, a society that views pretension with suspicion and disdain, it is almost universally a compliment.

“Israelis tend to talk more frankly and openly about subjects that, in America, could be somewhat taboo,” said Zev Chafets, a co-host of a weekly radio program in Tel Aviv that focuses on the United States’ election. “Trump does that. People find that refreshing.”

From article: Still, Mrs. Clinton has so far stirred little real enthusiasm in Israel, possibly opening the door for Mr. Trump and his dugri style.

“It does concern me because that sort of bluff, gruff, tough-guy approach is admired here,” said Sheldon Schorer, an official with the Israel branch of Democrats Abroad.

For once I agree with the NYT.
Israeli Jews are very different from Jews in the USA.
The movie Exodus is pretty accurate of Israeli Jews.
Hard, but they don’t sweep unpleasant thoughts under the rug.

Notice how quiet senator schumer has been for the last few years? I think it’s because obummer is so pro-islam that schumer being quite open about being a Jew has been put in an impossible position. He can’t be seen going against king obama and he most certainly doesn’t want to lose all respect from Israel.

Another odd thing is how American Jews tend to be lefties but Israeli Jews tend to lean right. Very odd to say the least.

Israelis pride themselves on being blunt and direct and often regard Americans as fake and unreliable.

People who have had 10 million of their brothers and sisters murdered tend not to beat around the bush. Last time people got complacent, the holocaust occurred.

I dont think there is any Bluff in Trump. That is what scares the shit out of the left. Someone that can pull the trigger is respected and feared, in a world where appearance is all that matters. When you have someone that has decades of actually making decisions and pushing his will as far as it can go independent of what the “community” thinks... is a threat to their game. That is the whole reason he is hated. The Japanese have a saying, the nail that sticks up will be pounded in. Trumps very presence on their field reveals the ineptitude of the others that pretend to play. Its like the new guy in a failing corporation that tries his best for the company and himself, is quickly drummed out as not being a team player because his conscientious ambition makes everyone else look bad.

Quite so. With a near universal military draft, almost all Israelis are taught in early adulthood the military ethic of unvarnished honesty as essential to individual and national survival. Israel’s innovative medical and high-tech sectors take a similar approach, testing ideas and ruthlessly weeding out failures and dead ends with little American-style accommodation for hurt feelings and established interests. If allowance is made for Oriental culture, similar traits can be discerned in South Korea, another independent small nation in a dangerous neighborhood. And both Israelis and South Koreans are sometimes described as admirable but difficult to like.
