The number of homicides committed with a firearm in the United States in 2014 was 10,945, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention&146;s report on its final data on deaths in this county for that year, which was released on June 30.
The 10,945 firearm homicides in 2014 represented a 40-percent drop from the peak hit in 1993, when there were 18,253 firearm homicides in the country, according to CDC data.
The 10,945 firearm homicides in the United States in 2014 equaled a rate of 3.43 per 100,000 people in the population. That was the lowest firearm homicide rate the United States experienced in any of the 34 years from 1981 through 2014, according to data posted by the CDC on its Web-based Injury Statistics Query and Reporting System (WISQARS).
The second lowest firearm homicide rate was the 3.54 recorded in 2013, when there were 11,208 gun homicides in the country.

The leftist agitators are trying to bring the rate back up.
I wonder, if all leftist-inspired mass shootings are taken out of the picture, would that make much difference in the overall trend?
Probably has more to do with getting rid of lead in gasoline anways.
It’s obviously all the gun free zones and signs.
And the number of new guns has done what? What? I can’t hear them. Oh, they’ve increased by YUGE numbers? Now isn’t that odd. Obvious sign more infringements are needed.
My son became a cop in 1993-——that’s why. :-)

Unless you are talking about Black on Black Crime. Then those numbers get a little skewed.
More guns equals less crime. Obama DID do this. So let’s give credit where credit is due.
Mass shoot murders are a statistical blip. Far less than 1% of all murders.
It is interesting to view the statistics when you remove inner-city homicides (black on black) - numbers have continued to drop in areas that purchase more firearms (rural America).
The raw data does not lie, but there is so much spin that it is difficult to remain accurate in our perceptions of the problem.
Ah, okay. Then it is the typical problem that the unusual gets so much news coverage that it seems to be happening all over the place. Like airplane crashes that get days of coverage, when far more people get killed in cars.
Gun sales go up, homicides go down. Go figure.
Imagine if you took the top 10 Democrat-run cities out of the statistics??
I would bet the USA would be as peaceful as Switzerland or Japan.
Yep. Worldwide more people are killed in automobile accidents every single day than die in airplane accidents in an entire year. More people have been murdered in Chicago since Orlando but since it is blacks killing other blacks one or two at a time so the media keeps silent.
If you excluded the murders committed by blacks, we would have a lower murder rate than Europe. Nobody has the guts to mention this.
