State Dept Made Marines Wait Around, Change Uniforms 4 TIMES During Benghazi Attack

A House report released Tuesday shows in the immediate aftermath of the Benghazi attacks, Department of State officials mulled over asking Marines, who were being considered for deployment, to take off their uniforms, as officials were concerned American flags on the uniforms would damage diplomatic relations in the region.

This RAPID DEPLOYMENT TEAM, stationed there to be ready in case of an emergency, prepared to fly to a hot spot to deal with trouble.... was waiting around so long, they had time for officials to debate the subject of whether or not to wear their 'uniforms' (aren't they always supposed to wear uniforms while on duty?) and had time to change in/out of those uniforms.

NOW, can anyone tell me why they were waiting soooooo long ?

The fact that the Ambassador was over in Libya with CIA operatives and private security contractors tells me that they were all involved in a covert operation. Embassies are guarded by Marines. Ambassador Stevens was at a consulate which is like an embassy but without Marines. Marines on embassy duty are well armed and capable of repelling boarders for a while. Hopefully this will enable a reaction force to come to their aid.
