Newt Gingrich Pals Around With Terrorists Saddam Hussein Once Armed
The Intercept ^ | 07/10/16 | Robert Mackey

Newt Gingrich, who is being vetted to be Donald Trump’s running mate and appeared with the candidate in Cincinnati on Wednesday, left the campaign trail this weekend for an unusual reason. The former Speaker of the House had to fly to Paris to appear at a gala celebration for the Mojahedin-e Khalq, or People’s Mujahedin, an Iranian exile group that wants Washington’s backing for regime change in Iran.

In his remarks, Gingrich heaped praise on the MEK’s efforts, and congratulated them on the presence of another dignitary, Prince Turki al-Faisal, a senior member of the Saudi royal family and a former head of that nation’s intelligence service.

What Gingrich failed to mention in his enthusiastic endorsement of the MEK, however, is that the Iranian dissidents previously spent three decades trying to achieve their aim through terrorist attacks, and some of their first victims were Americans. He also avoided talking about the fact that the group’s terrorist cell was once based in Iraq, where it was armed and protected by Saddam Hussein.

The timing of Gingrich’s appearance at the MEK gala was awkward for Trump, since the candidate had spent part of the previous week arguing that the late Iraqi dictator, while being “a really bad guy,” deserved some credit because “he killed terrorists.”

Trump never said Saddam "deserved some credit."

My god, these media are awful.

Newt Gingrich about 7 years ago made a speech I viewed on u-tube and had me convinced he knew about the threat of fundamental Islam.
Newt was the only prominent person who sounded the alarm about us being in a religious war.

Newt knows the problem we have with Islam, and that is why I want to see him as Trumps VP.

I am sure Gingrich knows we have to deal with Muslim heretics , apostates , Islamic traitors and Infidel collaborators to address the fundamental Islamic terrorist problem.-tom

Since Iraq and Iran were enemies and had wars, it stands to reason that Saddam would support someone who wanted to overthrow the Iranian regime, doesn’t it???

This was all before Saddam went into Kuwait....

Newt, No. He lost badly in 2012.
Santorum, Yes. He might have been the nominee in 2012 without Newt distracting from the totals.

Trump-Santorum makes more sense than other combinations I have seen.

“Newt, No. He lost badly in 2012.”

That is because the GOPe was against him. They wanted Mitt. This time they have not got their way.

Do we need to learn from history? US presidents opposed secular dictatorships in Iran, Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Libya....

The vacuum is filled by the non-secular.

Sometimes the lesser of two evils is the best we can do.

That deserves repeating. Countries must not be judged by their morality. They must be judged by their potential to harm or help us. The French understand this. Libya, Syria and Egypt were in effect on our side before Obama, so long as we did not interfere in their internal affairs. Iran was a staunch ally until Jimmy Carter disposed the Shah.. Obama blew every thing else to hell. Iraq was under control so far as harming our nation until George W Bush tried to bring democracy via the second Gulf War. It was all with good intention but he was a fool. Given the religion of the Shiites and Sunni democracy is impossible. Saddam was an evil son of a bitch, but he was a force of stability.

The present mess in the middle east is a direct result of some of Bush's policy but mostly that of Barrack Obama.

However the greatest cause of instability was President Carter. When in effect he destabilized Iran and the Shah, he unleashed the present chaos, death and destruction in the middle east. May he rest in hell when his time comes. I hope Satan has a particularly hot corner of hell reserved for him. He has earned it.

I lived and worked in the middle east for several years. I know of which I speak. The real hell of it is that the vast majority of those people just want to live and work for their families. Ten or twenty percent of their population is fanatically committed to jihad. That means about 100 or 200 million fanatics. We have a problem!!!!!
