Just saw this headline over at instapundit. Man it does sound weird. The guy is in a wheelchair, sounds like either he pulled a pot of boiling water on himself or someone threw it on him.

What is up with that?

Unlikely that he received 3rd degree burns from hot water.

1st degree - (think of a scald or sunburn) Redness, swelling, fairly painful

2nd degree - (think, putting your hand on a hot stove), redness, swelling, blistering, very painful

3rd degree - (think, charring of the skin) extensive damage done to the skin. Usually not all that painful (at least initially) because of the nerve damage.

So....3rd degree from water? Unlikely.
