Well, as someone of Ashkenazi descent on my mother’s side, I’m very proud of the contributions and survival tactics of these very great people. It is sad that African-Americans were once as talented as the Ashkenazis in surviving. I think of Edna Lewis who grew up in Freetown, Virginia, in which her community was dedicated to food, religion, and enduring as did so many African-American communities of the 19th and early 20th century. Of course, the glue was religion and the beauty of spirituals that still can be found in certain churches throughout the US.
But something went radically wrong. And it breaks my heart to see these people so lost and morally adrift. White Americans are adrift morally as well but they still believe in education and hard work and abiding by the law. That is the only thing that sustains them but I fear that those qualities will soon disappear over the next generation.
I met an African-American grandmother in an inner-city school in Louisiana. She had come in to see about her grandson. She said, “I don’t know how our children learn, since their mothers beat them on their heads.”
That right there is heartbreaking!
People HATE Bill Cosby but he was the only person who went into the inner cities of America and said: stop beating your children within an inch of their life.
I still believe this is one of the reasons his sins were uncovered while others’ sins are kept under wraps.
I have stood on street corners in New York City and watched black women viciously attack their male children and stood and thought: and those boys will come back and terrorize me. Why wouldn’t they? They’ve learned nothing of love or compassion or empathy.
Yes, very much so. During the glory years of the highly creative and productive Harlem Renaissance, for instance --- less than 100 years ago --- 90% of black children in Harlem lived in intact families headed by a married father and mother.
If you like cooking and African-American culture, try Edna Lewis’s great book “The Taste of Country Cooking,” which is a memoir of her life in Virginia as well as a cookbook. She only died a few years ago so it is not an ancient memoir.

You referenced the Ashkenazi Jews. Testing puts the average IQ of Ashkenazi Jews at about 117. The ability of the Jews to thrive after experiencing exile, systematic persecution and the holocaust has much to do with their intelligence as well as their faith and family. If fact, I would suggest that their intelligence leads them to understand and embrace the importance of faith and family. Intelligence allows them to understand and foresee the consequences of abandoning faith and family.
Many others fail to see those connections.
And drugs.
And the mama being beaten by boyfriends.
The intact family seems to be one key,and those great working class communities seem to be disappearing.
It’s an entire new world.

You seem to be up on Ashkenazi Jews, so I will ask you:
I’ve been told that when a Pale Jewess was raped it was policy of Ashkenazi Jew-dom to keep and raise the child as a jew. Is that true?
I have no idea. However I have never heard o any child born in the Jewish community under any circumstances, whom they raised as a non-Jew.
A child born to a Jewish mother is 100% Jewish regardless of the father’s status. Rape is a traditional tactic to break cultural cohesion, and Jews haven’t played along for several millennia at least.
Many identifiable Ashkenazi Jews are surprised to find out how little European DNA they actually have. Instances of intermarriage and rape would seem to be much lower than one might expect, although European-looking Jewish children who were kidnapped and raised as Christians might skew the numbers back toward normal. Just a guess.
