He had good remarks about the General but once again stated that he needed someone who had political experience and could help him navigate DC and Congress. You should have recognized that as complete B.S.
A vice president has very few responsibilities in the U.S. government. Trump may need someone who can help him navigate DC and Congress, but it sure doesn't have to be his VP. He can hire anyone as a senior White House advisor to fill that role.
