79 TRAFFIC OFFENSES?
You kind of act like that’s somehow normal :)
How many were bargained down from something else?
I didn't say it was normal. But, it wasn't disqualifying.
How many were bargained down from something else?
Bargained down from what? These were TRAFFIC offenses.
Do you really think the police would let him plea to "driving without insurance", instead of "grand theft auto"?
79 traffic offences? How many do you have? I haven’t had any in twenty years and driving was part of my job.
lol.
The 79 offenses relate to an entire decade apparently. I would agree it’s excessive. But I watched a local news channel from the area which interviewed a college professor who studied statistical data from the Twin Cities area. If you are black or Latino....you are three times more likely than a white guy....to get a ticket for something.
All in all....this goes back to the trend over the past thirty years of increasing police forces....just to hand out tickets and accumulate fines. I looked up what this dead guy had paid over a decade....$6,500 in fines. Roughly $500 a year. Frankly, if this were me....I’d be frustrated and aggravated with this trend. I’d probably give up on the city and move out of the state. Go figure up 10,000 such guys in this region....all paying $500 a year, and you got a bunch of unhappy campers. The city is just making a mockery of justice and the use of cops.
This guy may have a weapon on himself...and he might have been ID’ed as a suspect...but this trend of 79 traffic offenses? This would just make me ask more questions about what the cops are hired to do and whether it’s good law enforcement or not.
