The organization behind an effort to raise Maines minimum wage to $12 an hour has been advertising for new workers at a rate closer to $10 an hour.
An online ad posted Tuesday by the Maine Peoples Alliance indicates new phone canvassers/organizers would be paid $429 every two weeks for working 21.25 hours a week. That works out to $10.09 an hour, considerably less than the $12 minimum wage the alliance is seeking by 2020. The discrepancy was first reported by the Washington Free Beacon, a Washington, D.C.-based conservative news and commentary website.
Mike Tipping, communications director for the peoples alliance, said the job postings $429 figure was the result of bad math. The original posting was replaced Thursday with a new listing advertising a wage of $510 biweekly, which is exactly $12 an hour.
The revised listing wasnt posted until after the Free Beacon reported on the original

“We aren’t there yet, but we’re trying!” /S
Good catch by someone.
.
Washington Beacon originally. Picked it up on Zero hedge.
I would like to know where in the Constitution of Maine does g0vt get the authority to tell business how much they have to pay their employees.
"The MPA contested the mistake, citing a typo. The ad apparently offered $429 bi-weekly pay instead of $510. We're perplexed how $429 was entered instead of the $510 level that would have MPA putting their money where their mouth is. The real shady part is that the organization has claimed it was a typo even though the Portland Herald claims MPA has Facebook posting going back as far as February advertising $480 bi-weekly for full time employment (Zero Hedge was unable to confirm the existence of such job offerings)."
People who can’t do math that simple aren’t worth $12 and hour.
Whenever you see a name like “Maine People’s Alliance”, head for your copy of “The Communist Manifesto”. It should contain a plan for the “Peoples Republic of Maine” in it.
Probably a $2.00 an hour “agency fee” scam normally perpetuated by unions.
These groups, like so many libs, just assume “somebody else” will be picking up the tab - not them. Look at how public employees fight tooth and nail to keep ridiculous pay & benefits, funded by the people they pretend to “serve”. Despite the fact that the private sector taxpayers have watched wages fall and benefits get cut, we are still expected to maintain our government employee caste as upper-middle class royalty employed for life...
You can never shame a liberal.
The $510 biweekly is the result of the bad optics of the lessor amount.
The Left: if it were not for there double standard...(all together now)...they would not any standards.
