Some local areas want to be more strict than the law, more strict than DHS. Other localities want to be more lenient than the law, more lenient than the DHS.

Do those who argue for local control agree it should cut both ways?

Being shot at, after being targeted, undermines the hell out of local police efforts. Not the morale of the officers, necessarily, but it sort breaks up the lines of authority, and forces a bunker mentality on the part of the officers out on the street.

There is a savage beast abroad in the land, a killer force that preaches and acts on anarchy. The uniformed officers are the first target, and the tactics of choice include luring them out into an only very thin line, where sniper shots can be directed on a one at a time basis.

Suddenly, police work becomes military operations, with VAST potential for considerable collateral damage, to bystanders and to a lot of property.

Cities must first of all take care that their police forces are adequately respected and protected from political snipers, as well as the more physical kind. To knowingly allow suspected and sometimes identified criminals free range within the corporate limits, “catch and release” is not a viable option.

Wrongly directed motives of empathy have created no end of mischief in the general tranquility of our urban areas, and this is only another example of resisting any significant change in what are sometimes very twisted policies.

Cops aren’t doing their jobs so how can this undermine that? Oh, it means it might stop cops from not doing their jobs.

Cities that set up sanctuaries for illegals would be “ineligible for certain federal funds.” …

NOT enough... the mayors and city councils of these 'sanctuary cites' should be arrested.

What if there were sanctuary cities for the KKK?

Or for rapists?

child molesters?

Gimme a break - go in with federal offices and arrest these criminals.

Bullshit! “Sanctuary” cities undermine federal law, on top of theft of services by giving illegal aliens sanctuary and collecting taxes that are meant to fund law enforcement to keep them out in the first place.

That POS reid needs to be rotting away in Leavenworth, along side a whole bunch more rotten corrupt politicians.
