He told the Herald he was motivated to write about Ortiz in a broader way after her office indicted Walsh tourism chief Kenneth Brissette in May, allegedly for withholding city permits from a music festival unless it hired union stagehands.
The article was celebrated and shared on social media by Walshs organized labor allies yesterday.
Scott Ferson, president of Liberty Square Group and former press secretary to Massachusetts U.S. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, said the article was widely viewed in town as a counter-punch to Ortiz, particularly after her office arrested and indicted Walsh aide and former Massachusetts AFLCIO legislative director Tim Sullivan last week on the same charges as Brissette.
