Ernst all but withdraws from Trump veepstakes
Politico ^

Joni Ernst all but removed herself from Donald Trump’s vice presidential search, telling POLITICO in an interview that she wants to help Trump become president but that she’s focused on Iowa and the Senate, where the freshman senator said she's “just getting started.”

The GOP senator met with Trump on Monday and received effusive praise afterward, with Trump predicting he will “see her again.” But it likely won’t be as his running mate.

“I made that very clear to him that I’m focused on Iowa. I feel that I have a lot more to do in the United States Senate. And Iowa is where my heart is,” Ernst said Wednesday. “I’m just getting started here. I have a great partner with Chuck Grassley, we’ve been able to accomplish a lot. And I think that President Trump will need some great assistance in the United States Senate and I can provide that.”

Call me Polyanna, but if Noot is VP, does he become defacto house speaker again?

Correctomundo! She’s needed in the Senate. That’s where the RATs have a chance of regaining control. The Senate has so many worthless Repubican Turds running this year, that we need to hang on to the “keepers.” Besides, we need some room to be able to get rid of some of the old GOPECACA!

Pence only has a few days until he would have to withdraw from the Indiana governor’s race because he cannot be on the same ballot twice. He would have to withdraw from the race by noon July 15.

Trump wants to hang on to the GOP majority in the Senate. I seriously doubt he will choose a sitting Senator.

Remember when choosing a running mate, the rule is Do No Harm!

Also tonight could be a test run for Newt. See what he’s got. A little preseason game. Put him in for a quarter.

Yikes.

Looks like it is going to be Newt?

NO stout enough conservative or un-tainted VP candidate exists in Congress or DC. Newt is a merc and CFR/Globalist. He was shamefully tainted by the Pelosi Global Warming couch endorsement.

Why not avoid the Beltway totally and choose a Monica Crowley? If a DC "Insider" is required, it can only be Jeff Sessions.

I don’t think it will be Newt either. Too much baggage and too identified with the entrenched political guard. He’d make a much better chief of staff. I also remember him sitting on a sofa with Nancy Pelosi buying into the entire bogus “global warming” narrative.
