Couldn't they just hold the rowing event in a cesspool?
To: AngelesCrestHighway
Jeez...they cannot simply find a cleaner body of water to hold the Olympic swimming / rowing events?

Most of Rio is a giant toilet bowl, anyway.

Couldn't they just hold the rowing event in a cesspool? It would probably be healthier. It's a disgrace that we're subjecting our best athletes to this third world hell hole after they've spent their entire lives training to be the best.

Wow, some Olympics. Those who compete in outdoor water events have to wear hazmat suits. They probably ought to be wearing body armor also.

Sounds like what you used to get surfing at Pleasure Point in Santa Cruz, CA - floating turds. Guys were always getting sick surfing there. Great break, still popular - don’t know if they ever fixed the sewage problem.

The funny part is...This article is written as if the problem is solved by wearing hazmat suits! WTF? It’s Political Correctness gone nuts!

Turds in the water...What more could an Olympic rower ask for?
To: AngelesCrestHighway
Fortunately, the IOC has assembled a crack team to handle the problem.

Worse yet, the marathon swimming event is going to be held in Guanabara Bay. No suit will protect against swallowing sewage.

These are people navigating them in boats, and subject to occasional splashes. I think it likely that the swimmers will just boycott it.

I have heard nothing good about the Olympics in Rio. How the heck did it get awarded to them?
To: AngelesCrestHighway
Rowing is not easy in a suit of armor.
