The traveling shooting galleries were a part of all carnivals back before the 1980s. The last one I saw was in Farmington NM back in 1975.
Several old movies with shooting gallery scenes...BUFFALO BILL with Joel McCrea, RIDE THE HIGH COUNTRY with McCrea and RANDOLPH SCOTT.
I miss the old sound of the carnival music, the barkers and their side shows, the clang of the gong, the “Pop, pop, pop of the shooting gallery as people try to shoot the little chain holding the $100.00 bill.
That's bona-fide true red white and blue Americana right there and the government desperately needs fun stuff to be stamped out and expunged from memory.
