Baiting Millennials to Bankroll Obamacare
Town Hall ^ | June 27, 2016 | Katie Kieffer

Giving Millennials discounts on Lyft rides is the newest attempt to bait them into subsidizing a substandard healthcare system.

Last Tuesday, federal health officials pronounced a sneaky plan to scrutinize the tax records of young people ages 18-34 and compile a list of those who paid the penalty rather than signing up for Obamacare.

Federal officials admitted they plan to use this list to target Millennials with emails and enticements to pressure them into joining Obamacare. Sweeteners to be dangled like bait in front of Millennials include reduced fares with the hipster rideshare service known as Lyft.

Thanks to Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber, we now know this administration relied on the so-called “stupidity of the American voter” and a “lack of transparency” to pass the Affordable Care Act.

Millennials are being bullied into shouldering the burden of crony healthcare reform. Instead of increasing affordability, the Affordable Healthcare Act raised premiums and penalties for young people. The law also dramatically reduced our healthcare options.

Monthly healthcare premiums jumped 30 percent for young women and 73 percent for young men between 2013 and 2014 alone. Which helps explain why some 12.7 million Millennials are still uninsured—and Millennials now comprise 45 percent of all taxpayers paying a penalty or claiming an exemption—up from 30 percent of all taxpayers in 2014.

federal health officials pronounced a sneaky plan to scrutinize the tax records of young people

This seems a violation of 26 U.S. Code § 6103 (Confidentiality and disclosure of returns and return information). That section has lots of exceptions, but none of them seem to apply to this program.

Millennials now comprise 45 percent of all taxpayers paying a penalty or claiming an exemption

I hope they are claiming an exemption. There is no reason for anyone to pay the Obamacare tax. There are so many exemptions, any one can claim at least one. Further, always make sure you are slightly underwithheld. If the IRS disagrees with your claim of exemption, you can owe them the tax forever. They can only collect by grabbing your refund. As a practical matter, the law will soon be repealed; or if not, will be treated like the 55-miles-an-hour speed limit.

Sorry, no exemption.

They put the putz in office. They might as well learn in the real world what they weren’t taught in their safe place of educational bliss.

They elected a ‘leader’ who lies, ignores the law.

sit on it, own it, whatever euphemism they choose

It’s odd that they are teamed up with Lyft because Obama crony Plouffe is a major domo at Uber.

Mom and dad never said anything about that....

Even better- we found out they can stay on their parents’ insurance after they are married and can be on their own or spouse’s insurance. It defies logic.

Even for a Millennial you don’t have to be a math whiz to see that CommieCare was designed to introduce them to unwanted financial anal sex!!!!

Also giving out reduced fares to Lyft sounds a little hokey too....won’t regular taxicab companies and other ridesharing services such as Uber complain?

What if some local city gives a Lyft driver a citation for operating a taxi without a license while the millenial is there for the ride? Will the feds pay the ticket?

First, SS, then MediXYZ. Now O’Care. Pretty soon, IMO, we’re going to see a SEVERE voter back-lash to the economic slavery of younger generations.

I can ONLY wish/hope it hurts the political class...really, really *BADLY*.
