The word trick here is “classified”. “classified” is not a classification. It is a general term pertaining to all types of data that is to be protected from everyone except those having the proper clearance and a “NEED TO KNOW”.
Nothing is “marked” “classified”. They would be “marked” “TOP SECRET” (in orange), “SECRET” (in red), or “CONFIDENTIAL” (in blue), for example.
Top and bottom of every page. The cover would be marked with the highest classification used in the document. If one word was classified TOP SECRET, the the entire page would be marked TOP SECRET and the cover would have to be marked TOP SECRET even if all the rest of the data was only CONFIDENTIAL.
Hillary’s word games will not protect her from her mishandling classified materials, just as Bill’s didn’t protect him from mishandling Ms Lewinsky.

As if that's an exoneration. It is not. As SOS, it was her job and her duty to recognized classified content and safeguard it. She did not.

It interests me that the “no messages MARKED classified” defense is all she can come up with. This isn’t a rational defense, just a fig leaf her slaves can use to play pretend.
If spies could walk if the Top Secret material they were caught stealing was not “marked”, their first move every time would be to remove the markings.
I wonder if Gen. Petraeus marked his journals as “classified” before leaving them in his dwelling where his girlfriend, an Army Reserve Intel officer WITH A SECURITY CLEARANCE read them.
