MALCOLM Turnbull says he is confident the Coalition will form a majority government in the next parliament, despite huge losses for his party that have left the result on a knife-edge.

.....

Australia is facing the prospect of a hung parliament or a narrow Coalition victory.

....

The Coalition is sitting on 50.04 per cent of the two-party preferred vote, compared to 49.96 per cent for Labor.

.....

The ABC is predicting the Coalition to win 67 seats, equal to 67 seats for Labor. The Greens are expected to retain one seat, the Nick Xenophon Team will pick up one seat and three independents are likely to be elected.

The winning party needs 76 seats in the House of Representatives to form government.

There are eleven seats in doubt.

I'm not in Australia at the moment (I'm in the UK so did not do a live thread for the Australian Federal election) but now I am looking at the results.

And they are not good.

The conservative Liberal/National Coalition may eke out a narrow victory, and retain government but as the leader of the Liberal Party, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull is a centrist moderate rather than a conservative, this means a lot less than if we had a conservative in charge (like Tony Abbott - who was replaced by cowards in the Liberal Party who believed Turnbull would do better at this election). And a narrow victory, or minority government is probably a worse result for Australia than the conservatives actually losing the election, especially seeing there will almost certainly be a hostile Senate. We're facing a situation where even if elected, the conservative coalition isn't likely to be able to get much passed in Parliament - electoral paralysis.

So how long before Australia abandons its sensible and successful policy of turning back illegal alien invaders?

LINO Turnbull will lose.

What an arrogant POS - he stiffed the Liberal base every which way and basically told them to go take a hike.

He stood for nothing conservative and got his rear end handed to him.

Serves him right.
