Senator: Navy Evaluates Commanders Based On Climate Change Views

Rhode Island Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse recently told people gathered in New York City that global warming “denial” hurts U.S. soldiers in the field and that the “main problem” with the military is its reluctance to join the climate crusade.

“The problem has been that the uniformed military has been reluctant to put its voice into – or its image into this fight,” Whitehouse said, according to a YouTube video posted Thursday.

[dcquiz] “But, it’s hard to put a panel of people in uniform in front of the Environmental and Public Works Committee and say, you know, I’m a general, I’m an Admiral, I’m the head of the Marine Corps, we’re telling you,” said Whitehouse, who sits on the Senate committee in question.

Whitehouse also claimed Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus is starting to evaluate commanders based on their knowledge of how global warming will impact the bases they command.

“What the Navy has done that’s been really interesting, Ray Mabus said he’s starting to actually evaluate his – you know, the military lives by evaluation – they’re starting to evaluate their base commanders on how well they communicate the risk of climate change about the base,” Whitehouse said.

“So, if you’re the base commander of Norfolk, or of Naval Station Newport, or of – what is it, Cherry Creek Marine Air Station in North Carolina – you are suddenly have on your checklist of what you’re evaluated on how well you’ve communicated what the risk of climate change is,” he said.

Face palm. This ain't my Navy or my dad's Navy. Heard a little conversation with Tim Ball on Coast to Coast with George Nouri last night. He described how the whole IPCC line of BS was told to NOT look at a lot of things and concentrate only on what might sell to the ignopublic. Looks like they've done an OUTSTANDING job of it. IT'S FREAKIN' WEATHER!!! HELLO!

And .. when Obama asked his former serving military leaders if they would fire on the American people - THOSE WHO SAID “NO” WERE EITHER FIRED .. OR RESIGNED.

This is not a joke - I heard it from a person in the know.

I knew we were in trouble when the memo came down saying it wasn’t fair to evaluate Soldiers based on their performance in combat.

What do you evaluate a Soldier on?

The military makes this and other social engineering garbage a priority, and then reprimands the officers and sailors involved in the Iran boat incident as being guilty of “weak leadership, poor judgment and lacking war fighting toughness.”

GEE, I WONDER WHY? It starts at the top and flows down through the ranks.

The people who make up the bulk of the federal government are a dangerous combination of stupid, greedy, and insane.

They either belong in prison, an insane asylum, or living down by the river mumbling to themselves while having absolutely no influence whatsoever.

Trump doesn’t need to fire these “prisoners” , he only needs to take America back from these frauds/tax crooks and the UN. Obama has suceeded in threatening our military.....I.e., jobs and pensions.

In a more civilized country this man would be shot. Sadly we have to deal with him in elections.

What do you evaluate a Soldier on?

It's based on whatever the Soldier puts in his or her job description. For instance, if a Soldier oversees a multi-million dollar budget and made sure all the money was spent on time and not wasted, that Soldier did his/her job.

I don't know what purpose "climate change" is supposed to serve. While it is a requirement for all military reservations to steward the environment, measures like making sure all the shell casings are picked up after a day at the range has little to do with "climate change."

this would explain why we had two riverine crews captured by the most inept navy on the planet. it would also explain why the skipper of one of those boats cried on video.

ray mabus, political hack — and secretary of what’s left of the navy.

I actually work with one of Sheldon’s minions (he recently flew to DC on vacation to spread the fear of climate change to congress)

When I mention the sea level has risen 300-400 feet and the mile high glaciers that covered NY melted in the only the last 16,000 years he gives me a blank stare.

I’m afraid very few people would follow him into battle.

It is no surprise that this administration has been loading the military with people who are the most politically correct instead of those the most qualified.
