Lynch’s plan to “accept the FBI decision” over Clinton’s emails is probably a smokescreen

Not only is she not taking her department out of the loop and appointing a special prosecutor, but she’s not 100% accepting the call of the FBI either. There are no “career prosecutors” on James Comey’s team. Those prosecutors all work for Lynch in the Justice Department. From the beginning she’s been saying that it would be those “professionals” who would decide the merits of the case, so this may be nothing other than window dressing to appease the voters outraged by the meeting with Bill Clinton while sticking with business as usual.

But there’s a second possibility as well and I’m just going to toss it out there. It’s been leaked from multiple sources that the FBI investigation is winding down and Comey is close to wrapping this thing up. Very likely the final decision has already been made and he’s just making sure all the I’s are dotted and the T’s crossed before handing over his work.

What are the chances that Lynch doesn’t know what the decision is at this point? In fact, I wouldn’t be terribly shocked if that was part of the conversation she had with Bill Clinton. (Yes… I’m basically saying that they’re lying about the meeting. If you can ever prove me wrong I’ll be happy to apologize.) What if Comey has already decided to pull the rip cord and recommend no formal charges against Hillary Clinton because the firestorm resulting from a call to prosecute would just be too hot for him? Then Lynch and the President are in the clear. She can simply claim that she was leaving it up to Comey all along and the entire unpleasant affair drops down the memory hole.

Conspiracy theory? Sure. But as far as I’m concerned it certainly passes the smell test,

That is what I was thinking. I will believe otherwise when I seen indictments coming down.

Given this administrations tendency to lie and behave in a corrupt fashion, their statements mean nothing.

Congress must appoint an INDEPENDENT SPECIAL PROSECUTOR
the DOJ / LORETTA LYNCH has to recuse
no justice
NO TRUST

Who says none of these unnamed “career prosecutors” have their eyes on advancing thru a political appointment? Does anyone believe LL just randomly picked the DOJ team or is it more likely she picked from the list of ideologically loyal foot troops?

It’s starting to ooze out that word of the meeting was provided to local media. So, the “discovery” was part of the plan.

She can claim that but the narrative and reality will still be that she didn’t step down until the decision was made. And it is still clearly out of her hands by deciding only now to follow whatever the FBI recommends. If there wasn’t going to be an indictment Lynch wouldn’t have had anything to remove herself from in the first place.

Why spend 30 minute face time with Clinton?

I’ll admit, between the grandchildren and golf meeting, and announcement Lynch is recusing, I had about 45 minutes of optimism.

But I think this assessment is solid, but very depressing.

The fix. Is in.

Exactly and all we hear is what an impeccable reputation Comey has. He lets Hillary off the hook and all will say who can second guess this stand up guy.

Couple of points.

First, a special prosecutor should be the last thing we should want at this time. Appointing a special prosecutor would kick this can into 2018. It would take several months for a SP to even find office space and staff. A few more months to review the evidence. You’re talking 2018.

Second, if you assume that there was more to this than ‘grandchildren’ which seems likely, it wasn’t to tell Bill Clinton that his wife was in the clear. Good new doesn’t require all this subterfuge.

This could have been a “heads up” to the Clintons that the AG expects the FBI will recommend prosecution and that the AG will approve their recommendation.

Alternatively, this could have been a direct message to the Clinton’s that Hillary needs to stop the prevarication and agree to an immediate interview.

I would watch the Clinton campaign closely for the next couple of weeks to see if they tip their hand.

True, but by doing so the administration has given themselves the APPEARANCE of being willing to go as far as recusing Lynch. So the subsequent decision not to indict will be :pure”...

This is just a ruse to give their media shills a convenient way to cover this scandal - the old “nothing to see here, move on” line. The fix is absolutely in. It is disgusting that any American would be willing to consider letting this snake into the White House to the highest office in the land.

I agree, if it was “good news”, i.e, Hill is off the hook, why go to all this trouble to meet FTF?

No, my theory is she met with Bill for good news/bad news. The good news .... she (the DOJ) is going to delay releasing the Clinton Foundation emails (that clearly show influence peddling all over the world) for 2+ years, and thus doing Bill, her mentor, a favor. Badda, badda, bing, happened the next day.

OTOH, the bad news is .... the case against Hill is so air-tight, so open-and-shut, that there is nothing that can be done to prevent it going forward.

Just my theory, based on nothing more than what these people have been doing. I’m likely wrong.

I tend to agree that the fix is in.

But it would be fun to consider that if Comey says one thing to Lynch, and Lynch goes forward under those assumptions and Comey double-crosses her and then unleashes a scathing set of criminal referrals, it would set her on her considerable backside.

I know... wishful thinking.
