“Any sentient tech company has, or will, leave SF.”
I have dealt with lots of Ca folks over the years. For the most part they love California more than life itself. They can’t envision moving. So, no matter how bad the financial aspects, the social aspect of the California lifestyle seems to overrule reason. Having said that, a director of a Ca based Fortune 500 company with several plants in the LA area told me they were slowly letting the plants run their life cycle and die and moving all new efforts to right to work states. They were stunned when virtually all the Ca employees accepted the move package. So, there you have it. Both ends of the social spectrum.
So, the consumer is blamed for the cost of the products they buy? This is insane...................
What’s interesting is that according to the documentary, San Francisco 2.0, put out by Alexandra Pelosi, it is the city causing the shortage by wooing all the tech companies into the city.
As a former Californian I’m certainly not shedding any tears over their self-created problems.

No, they’ll just pass the cost to the consumer via raising the price of their products. They know tech-idiots like those who go ga-ga over every iPhone release won’t mind paying another $100+ for it.

The firms ar NOT in San Francisco, it’s their employees. San Francisco is a city/county but it’s only where the tech employees want to live. They work in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties. San Francisco real estate is the most expensive in the entire country, but this boom has resulted in the clearing out and rebuilding a lot of formerly trashy areas. Blacks and low-income HIspanics have been pushed out and their neighborhoods “gentrified”with expensive new housing. The city has never been more vibrant. The supervisors are idiots, because these high rents are fueling most of the spending through increased property taxes.
