California next up to legalize recreational marijuana?

Twenty years ago, California became the first state to legalize medicinal marijuana use — and it took a referendum to pass the law. Since then, California has fallen behind the curve a bit, as other Western states like Colorado, Oregon, and Washington have legalized recreational use as well. Given California’s somewhat lax requirements for medicinal referrals, taking that final step might be more formal than substantive — but voters will get the chance to take it in November nonetheless, and they will have a Facebook executive to thank for it:

Hey now, let's not forget Nevada. Question 2 will be a vote for or against "Taxing and Regulating" the sale of mj. Basically legalizing an ounce or less for private use. The petition had plenty of signers to get it on the ballot. Of course at the same time they were getting the required sigs for this initiative, the same gatherers also had another clip board with them for the ignorant populace to get the universal background check initiative on the ballot as well. Question 1. For or against requiring a UBC for private sales. Nannie bloomers big bucks at work.

If you are going to legalize “medical” marijuana, you may as well legalize it completely. In California every other kid has a doctor-issued pot card. Its a scam.

So now they are pushing “medical” marijuana in Florida. As I say, its a scam. Legalize it, or don’t. Just know that you can’t build a republic with potheads as your citizenry. But you can’t build one with your average Dem as your citizen either.

Nevada currently has plans for, I think, 43 “dispensaries” around the state. I believe 4 authorized in Reno, a couple in some of the more rural areas and the majority in vegas. I’m sure the revenue stream will cause more to be authorized before it’s all said and done. Remember when there were doctors on TV promoting a particular brand of cigarettes? Will we have the same now and then 50 years from now “studies” will find how detrimental this was? Not that there aren’t already studies out there indicating this. And have been for a long time. I know a couple of people that have the “medical” cards currently. It’s BS. They stay loaded all the time. But it relieves some pain or another.

It will be interesting to see if the quack lobby fights this, and how hard. They are making a lot of money writing MJ scripts for hurt feelings.

Colorado legalized MJ due to the migration of “hippies” from Kalfornica went there and polluted the mountain state, now the “leftovers” that can’t move to Colorado want the same rights.

California next up to legalize recreational marijuana?

And who didn't see that coming? "Medical" Marijuana always was a vehicle for legalization.

The _Raich_ incident & ruling still stands.
Medical pot is legal in CA, but the feds still executed a violent raid to seize six pot plants from a terminally ill old lady raising them for her use under a doctor’s prescription & supervision, and SCOTUS upheld the raid.
The whole state based “legalize pot” movement succeeds at the whim of the President.

Considering that California is the land of nuts and fruits; I’m surprised they haven’t already.

I think the last attempt failed because of a super-majority requirement.
